Goldwind announced two new turbine models – the GWH221-8.X-10 and GWH24X-12. X – in recognition of reaching 100GW of installed wind power capacity worldwide last april.

With an anticipated 12MW capacity, the GWH24X-12.X is expected to be the largest onshore wind turbine once it is installed.
Once completed, Goldwind reports that the 12 MW turbine will surpass the largest offshore wind turbines currently deployed on a commercial scale.

Powered by wind in the south and abundant sunshine in the north, Australia’s renewable future is shaping up to be a positive one.

As each week passes, more and more wind farms are planned, approved, commenced, and coming online.

Australian wind farms on the eastern seaboard have set a new record of over 7 gigawatts (GW) on June 8. This accounted for over 30% of grid supply. Wind output currently sits at 5.7 GW.
A year ago, that figure was around 5 GW.

Australian wind farms are setting records in 2023 which will soon be broken as winter proceeds and new generators come on line.

Rudis said it connected its VE Alibunar I wind power plant of 9 MW to the 20 kV distribution network and delivered the first megawatt-hour in October.

The facility will generate 27 GWh to 29 GWh of electricity per year, which is sufficient to supply 6,000 households in Serbia.

There are several inherent challenges to recycling wind blades.

Jonas Pagh Jensen, EHS specialist at wind blade OEM Zamudio, Spain, explains:
“One of the challenges is that you have built something that is meant to be extremely difficult to separate. So you have to invent technologies to break apart these bonds, and that requires energy, and can be costly.”

Volume is another challenge.
“In Denmark, we had 36 turbines taken down last year. It looks like a lot of blades on the front of a newspaper, but that would take you less than a week to digest in any type of machinery.”

Suppliers, fabricators and OEMs across the composite wind blade supply chain ramp up existing technologies, develop better reclamation methods, and design more recyclable wind blades.

This Callide Wind Farm project will be located in the Calliope Range roughly 22km north-east of Biloela and 75km south-west of Gladstone.

DP Energy claims this wind farm has the potential to power up to 130,000 average Queensland households when completed.
The wind farm will comprise of 70 wind turbines, each with a generating capacity of roughly 5MW to 6MW.

Construction is expected to begin in 2024 and will take roughly two years to complete

DP Energy has received approval to build its Callide Wind Farm project, which will include 70 wind turbines producing 5-6MW of energy each.
