That is now the world record depth for a 420 kV HVAC subsea cable installation.

Together with Statnett, we have completed the expansion of the 420 kV high-voltage subsea power link across the Fensfjord in Western Norway.

This crossing doubles transmission capacity between Haugsvær and Lindås, helping reinforce power reliability for Bergen and surrounding industrial areas.
Delivering this required precise ex*****on in demanding conditions:
→ 7.8 km of high-voltage subsea cable across the fjord
→ Installation depth of 530 m
→ Fjord slopes reaching 55 degrees
→ Marine operations led by CLV Nexans Skagerrak

This project is a strong example of what it takes to deliver high-voltage subsea cable infrastructure in challenging environments — safely, reliably and in close coordination with our customer.

What makes a 150-meter cable-laying vessel feel like more than a machine?

On CLV Nexans Electra, up to 90 people will live and work onboard for weeks — sometimes months — at a time. That changes how you think about every space: where people eat, rest, decompress between shifts.

Right now, these living quarters are taking shape. It's one of the less visible parts of building a next-generation cable-laying vessel — but one of the most critical for the people who will operate it.

CLV Nexans Electra: construction progress continues.
Key systems installed and powered up, large deck turntable erected, HV cable handling and installation equipment being fitted.

Completion planned for spring. The vessel will strengthen our subsea cable installation capacity for offshore wind and interconnector projects across Europe.

𝐀 𝐤𝐞𝐲 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐃𝐢𝐞𝐩𝐩𝐞 𝐋𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐞́𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐦
After four years of project ex*****on, Nexans has successfully delivered both 225 kV HVAC export cable circuits for the Dieppe–Le Tréport offshore wind farm to RTE.

The export cable system is now formally handed over, marking the completion of Nexans’ delivery scope and the start of the long-term maintenance and warranty phase.

From engineering and manufacturing to offshore and onshore installation, this project brought together a wide range of expertise to build a critical power link from subsea to land, enabling up to 496 MW of renewable electricity to be transmitted to the French grid, enough to supply around 850,000 people.

With the system now delivered, Nexans’ Inspection, Maintenance and Repair teams will support the asset in the years ahead, helping to secure reliable, long-term power transmission for France’s offshore wind ambitions.
