Can you make an electrical cable from 100% recycled raw materials without changing its quality?
That's the bet Laure Desseigne and the Nexans circular economy teams have won.

Making 1 km of cable emits as much as 2 to 3 people in a year, and France has 1.3 million km of lines, so the stakes are high. This pilot cable uses 100% recycled copper, instead of the usual 10%, with identical performance. And its carbon footprint now fits on a single page, in full transparency.

🎤 We sat down with our 3 godmothers for a short interview.

✅Fatima Ezzahra El Gout, qualification engineer.

✅Jamila Samri, senior project manager.

✅Monica Kollegård, strategic and tactical planner.

They each bring a unique perspective to the project and together, they reflect the collaboration behind every vessel we build. A great opportunity to hear their thoughts on Electra, the journey so far, and what this milestone means for Nexans’ subsea future.

What if a single project could power 1.6 million homes ? 🏡
That’s exactly what we achieve with Aurora Seagreen project🛥️

- 114 turbines installed at depths of up to 58 meters
- 1,075 MW of renewable energy generated ⚡
- Enough to power nearly 1.6 million homes each year.

Projects like this are made possible by advanced installation vessels like Aurora.

And with our new CLV Electra, we’re ready to go even further.

Three godmothers for one vessel ⚡

On 28 April, CLV Nexans Electra was christened in Norway. Monica Kollegård, who knows how cables are made. Fatima Ezzahra El Gout, who knows how they're engineered. Jamila Samri, who knows how they reach the seabed.

Three women. Three expertise. One team. From cable manufacturing to engineering to subsea installation this is how projects truly come to life.

The vessel features :

✅ Three turntables with a total cable capacity of 13,500 tonnes
✅ Capability to bundle‑lay up to four cables simultaneously
✅ Advanced subsea tooling, including jetting and burial systems
✅ Hybrid power reducing emissions

A new step forward for Nexans’ subsea fleet, alongside Aurora and Skagerrak.

The future of offshore energy ? We're building it. ⚡

530 metres below sea level.
That is now the world record depth for a 420 kV HVAC subsea cable installation.

Together with Statnett, we have completed the expansion of the 420 kV high-voltage subsea power link across the Fensfjord in Western Norway.

This crossing doubles transmission capacity between Haugsvær and Lindås, helping reinforce power reliability for Bergen and surrounding industrial areas.
Delivering this required precise ex*****on in demanding conditions:
→ 7.8 km of high-voltage subsea cable across the fjord
→ Installation depth of 530 m
→ Fjord slopes reaching 55 degrees
→ Marine operations led by CLV Nexans Skagerrak

This project is a strong example of what it takes to deliver high-voltage subsea cable infrastructure in challenging environments — safely, reliably and in close coordination with our customer.

What makes a 150-meter cable-laying vessel feel like more than a machine?

On CLV Nexans Electra, up to 90 people will live and work onboard for weeks — sometimes months — at a time. That changes how you think about every space: where people eat, rest, decompress between shifts.

Right now, these living quarters are taking shape. It's one of the less visible parts of building a next-generation cable-laying vessel — but one of the most critical for the people who will operate it.

For those who've worked offshore: what made the biggest difference to daily life onboard?
