International conference "The Composition of the Qur'an: Structure, Style & Meaning"
IDEO (Cairo) and Orient-Institut Beirut, 19-20 March 2027

The Dominican Institute for Oriental Studies (IDEO) in Cairo and the Orient-Institut Beirut (OIB) invite paper proposals for this conference on the structure, rhetoric and style of the Qur'anic text, in dialogue between the Islamic tradition and contemporary scholarly approaches.

Abstracts of 300 to 500 words due by 30 September 2026.

"The Theology of Religions Reinventing and Transforming Itself. Ecumenical Approaches"
Institut Catholique de Paris, 8 and 9 June 2026 (in person and online)

Faced with growing religious diversity and the transformations of the contemporary world, how should we rethink the theology of religions today?

This international conference is jointly hosted by the Higher Institute of Ecumenical Studies (ISEO), the Institute of Science and Theology of Religions (ISTR), the Department of Fundamental, Dogmatic and Patristic Theology of the ICP, the Institut Protestant de Théologie, and the Saint-Sergius Orthodox Theological Institute.

Speakers will include Reinhold Bernhardt, Michaël Seewald, Catherine Cornille, Michel Younès, alongside many other academics and international experts.

Islam, as a historical, religious, and civilizational reality, is difficult to define. It can be perceived as a form of political governance, an expression of faith, a social conception with regulatory practices, or as a civilizational and cultural heritage. From its emergence and throughout its history, Islam has transformed the way these realities are inhabited. This makes it impossible to speak of it as a monolithic reality. Islam is, in fact, plural.
