⛵ A new blue water giant has just hit the water! 🌊

The Long Island 87' has been launched in Concarneau, Brittany. This 26.3-metre sailing catamaran is the third in JFA Yachts’ Long Island series. 🇫🇷

What makes her special? 👇

🔹 Built to go far: an aluminium hull with a composite deck and superstructure keeps the weight low. That means lively sailing performance and real comfort on long passages.

🔹 Made for fun: the aft platform holds a 5-metre tender. At anchor, it turns into a relaxation and water sports area. 🏄‍♂️

🔹 Serious power: twin 400hp engines and two 27 kW generators.

🌊 Alone on a catamaran, crossing the Atlantic… and ahead of schedule! ⛵🔥

Éric Pilato left La Rochelle solo aboard Skiboo 2, an Excess 11 catamaran. After just 6 days, 21 hours and 29 minutes, he passed the latitude of Gibraltar, about 400 miles to the west. 🧭

After big seas and some great surfing, conditions have calmed down. His verdict on the boat: it’s performing really well, with no problems on board. 💪 How did he celebrate the milestone? With a simple coffee. ☕😄

What’s next? Lighter winds, and a tactical choice: heading south towards Madeira, and perhaps slipping through the gap between Madeira and the Canary Islands. 🗺️

And the part we love most? ❤️ Before he left, his family gave him a chest with 32 envelopes, one for each day at sea. Every day at 1:02 pm, he opens the next one. ✉️

🎯 Step 1: Define your project. How will you use her: family cruising, long passages or charter? How many guests and cabins do you need? Where will she be based? Sail or power, monohull or catamaran?

💶 Step 2: Set your real budget. The purchase price is only the start. Plan for mooring, insurance, maintenance, fuel, winter storage and possibly crew.

🔍 Step 3: Search and shortlist. Your broker selects boats that match your criteria, including some that are not widely advertised. Compare age, condition, equipment, location and price.

⛵ Step 4: Visit and sea trial. See the boats in person, or by video if you are far away. A sea trial shows how she handles under sail or power.

🤝 Step 5: Make an offer and negotiate. Your broker helps you set a fair offer based on the market and the boat’s condition, then the terms are written into a purchase agreement.

🔧 Step 6: Survey and checks. An independent surveyor inspects the hull, rig, engines and systems, and you review the maintenance records and papers.

🌊 Step 7: Close the sale and take delivery. Payments, ownership transfer, registration and insurance are completed, then the boat is delivered. After that, enjoy your boat, or let us manage her and offer her for charter to generate income.
