Think you need fluent French to work in France? 🤫📝

Not always 🤞🏻

A lot of the people we relocate work in fashion, luxury and creative industries — and many arrive with very limited French.

🙌 Some find salaried roles. Many are independent and move through the Entrepreneur / Profession libérale route.

For job hunting, LinkedIn is an obvious starting point, but Welcome to the Jungle is especially useful for international companies and startups in France, while FashionJobs and BoF Careers are much more targeted to fashion, luxury and creative roles.

Also don’t overlook specialist recruiters and headhunters — in fashion, luxury and senior creative roles, many opportunities are filled through networks before they ever reach a public job board.

🇫🇷 One thing to keep in mind: French may not be essential on day one, but for some longer-term residence routes, language and civic requirements will eventually matter.

September is a particularly good time to start looking, as hiring activity tends to pick up again after the summer break.

Forget New Year’s — September is when French people actually recommit to gym memberships, hobbies, diets. More “real” than January 1st.

Everyone says France “closes” in August. Not quite. 🇫🇷

Same country, two very different rhythms but it all depends on your city.

📍 NICE: still buzzing
Peak season, not shutdown season. The Tour de France Femmes finishes on the Promenade des Anglais on 9 August, so expect traffic 8–10 Aug. Restaurants are open… the admin, less so 😄

📍 PARIS: calmer, but working
Metro, museums and essentials keep going. Near the Seine, heads up: the Grenelle swim spot is closed 1–9 Aug for the European Aquatics Championships. Some shops and mairies switch to summer hours.

💻 Your paperwork doesn’t take a holiday
ANEF, impôts, Ameli, CAF, Urssaf all stay online.
Slower, maybe but your deadlines don’t move. Submit on time and keep your confirmation.

Two cities, two rhythms.

The most important day for France ? 🍾

🇫🇷 What do we celebrate exactly? The date recalls the storming of the Bastille on 14 July 1789, a defining moment of the French Revolution, but also the Fête de la Fédération held one year later, which celebrated unity and reconciliation.

💁‍♀️ An interesting fact: when 14 July officially became France’s national holiday in 1880, the law did not specify which of these two events was being commemorated, allowing the day to symbolise both revolution and unity.

This year, however, 14 July carries particular significance in Nice. The traditional fireworks were held on 13 July so that today could be dedicated to remembrance, marking ten years since the terrorist attack of 14 July 2016, which took the lives of 86 people and injured hundreds.

As a Nice-based company, our thoughts are with the victims, their families and everyone whose life was changed that night.

Bonne fête nationale à toutes et à tous — may this day be one of unity, remembrance and peace. 🇫🇷

BREAKING: France just ended the remote work visitor visa debate. For good. 🇫🇷

During this terrible heatwave, at least we finally got some good news for future expats in France.

⭐️ The Assemblée nationale has published an official clarification from the Ministry of the Interior on remote work and visitor status.

Basically, if you live in France but work remotely for a foreign employer, are paid abroad, taxed abroad, and do not work for a company established in France, visitor status may be the correct immigration status.

This should finally end the long debate about remote work on a visitor visa.

France is no longer only asking: “Which visa are you applying for?” It’s now asking: “Can you prove your activity really fits this status?” 🗞️

⚠️ Your file should tell a coherent story before the prefecture asks you to. Save this for your next renewal, and send it to someone applying this year.
