On behalf of Wantok Link Consultancy, I’m proud to share that I have successfully completed the “Introduction à la mise en œuvre et au pilotage de projets de développement” training by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) Campus and received my certificate.

This course has significantly broadened my understanding of how to design, implement, and manage development projects using structured methodologies aligned with AFD standards.

• Understanding development challenges and identifying stakeholder needs
• Structuring a project through a clear intervention logic (objectives, activities, results)

It would be great to meet the PNG Prime Minister in Paris. 🇫🇷🇵🇬

We had an intense and productive working session this morning with Minister Justin Tkatchenko and his team to prepare for Prime Minister James Marape’s official visit to France, at the invitation of President Macron. There are many announcements on the horizon and high expectations on both sides to ensure the success of this important visit, which marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Papua New Guinea and France.

Strengthening PNG–Europe Agricultural Partnerships

Today at the Salon International de l’Agriculture (SIA) in Paris, I had the opportunity to meet with GRET (Groupe de Recherche et d’Échanges Technologiques), a leading French development NGO with nearly 50 years of experience supporting sustainable agriculture and smallholder farmers across developing countries.

After attending a presentation at the Max Havelaar France stand, I met with Damien Lagandre, Program Manager at GRET, to discuss how we can create practical pathways for Papua New Guinea’s smallholder coffee and cocoa farmers to better access the European market.

We explored potential collaboration between GRET and key agricultural institutions in PNG, including:

• Coffee Industry Corporation (CIC)
• PNG Cocoa Board

📊 Currently, PNG coffee represents less than 1% of the European market, while Indonesia holds around 2%. This shows that the opportunity for growth is real — especially as European buyers increasingly demand traceability, sustainability, and compliance with new regulations such as EUDR.

The positive outcome of this discussion is that GRET is open to engaging directly with CIC and PNG Cocoa Board to explore technical cooperation, capacity building, and potential EU-funded support mechanisms.

For PNG smallholder farmers, this could mean:
✔️ Stronger institutional support
✔️ Improved compliance with EU standards
✔️ Better market access
✔️ Higher and more stable incomes
