Maia Sandu met with Jürgen Stock, Secretary General of INTERPOL
Corruption and misgovernment generate immigration and threaten security. This is the statement made by the head of state at the Munich Security Conference, which takes place on February 18-20. Maia Sandu also had a meeting with Jürgen Stock, Secretary General of INTERPOL, during which she discussed cooperation in the field of cybercrime, financial crime and the fight against corruption.
The president spoke about the effects of this phenomenon for our country and for the region, in a panel dedicated to migration and international security. "Until now, corruption and bad governance have driven people out of the Republic of Moldova, weakening the state and creating security problems. These problems can only be overcome if the government works for the citizens and seeks solutions to provide a better life for the people of the country, and for those who have left - the chance to return home ", said Maia Sandu.
The head of state had talks with a group of foreign investors, interested in the economic opportunities offered by our country, during a round table hosted by the Angermayer Forum for policies and innovations. Sandu confirmed to the interlocutors that, after several years of uncertainty, Moldova has returned to the path of reforms and is ready for foreign investment, with encouraging policies and simple and clear rules for the business environment.
In a meeting with INTERPOL Secretary General Jürgen Stock, the President discussed co-operation in the field of cybercrime, financial crime and the fight against corruption. It was also agreed to strengthen the strategic partnership. "The help of other states and the contribution of international organizations to combat money laundering and organized crime will help us punish corruption in Moldova and stop the illegal flow of state property to other jurisdictions," Maia Sandu wrote on a social media page.
The President of the Republic of Moldova is currently at the Munich Security Conference - a global platform for discussions on international security issues, which brings together heads of state and government, opinion leaders and entrepreneurs.
