EU regulations, policies and principles define daily life across the continent. But understanding them? That's often another story.

For most people, European legislation lives somewhere between a government website and a policy paper: important, but rarely easy to approach. The gap between what the EU does and what citizens actually know about it is real and it has been there for a long time.

The project, co-funded by the EU, is a partnership of organisations from across Europe exploring exactly that gap. The goal is straightforward: make EU regulations, policies and principles more accessible, more understandable and more relevant to the people they affect every day.

One of the outcomes of this work is the Knowledge Bits: bite-sized learning units designed to inform without overwhelming, available in:

From 'Learning for' to 'Learning as' : Inner Development in Higher Education 🎓

Sometimes the most meaningful changes in education begin with something small. A student who feels truly heard. A moment of reflection that changes how someone sees themselves. A classroom where learning is not only about knowledge, but also about courage, empathy and growth.

That was very much the feeling we carried with us in Trondheim, Norway, where the partnership came together for its second project meeting hosted by the NTNU - Norges teknisk-naturvitenskapelige universitet. ALIGN, which stands for 'Embedding Inner and Student-centered Exploration and Development in Higher Education' is funded by Erasmus+ KA220 in Higher Education and brings together partners across Europe to explore how inner development can take a real place in university life through educator training, digital tools and classroom practice.

What makes this work so meaningful is that it did not begin only as a project. In many ways, it began with a shared conversation. The work of the University Coalition for Student Inner Development and the wider movement around the Inner Development Goals (IDGs), helped bring many of us together around a common belief: that higher education should not only prepare students academically, but also support them as human beings.

With partners from Sweden (Lund University), Germany (Hochschule Darmstadt), the Netherlands (University of Amsterdam and Nyenrode Business Universiteit), Greece (Alba Graduate Business School), Norway (NTNU - Norges teknisk-naturvitenskapelige universitet) and Spain (Universitat Ramon Llull– Esade), we are building learning environments that nurture both competence and consciousness.

Closing a Special Chapter in Madrid 🇪🇸

Some journeys leave more behind than reports, agendas, or deliverables. Last week in Madrid, as the Digitmi Final TPM reached its closing moment, we looked back with pride and gratitude.

Thanks to the warm welcome of our Spanish partner, Defoin, this meeting became a space for reflection, connection and shared vision. Together, we revisited what had been built, celebrated the strength of this partnership and shaped the final steps of a meaningful path.

As this chapter draws to a close, one feeling stands above all: appreciation for every organisation that helped transform a common idea into real support for digital entrepreneurship.

Some Stories Start in a Room Like This 🇷🇸

Over the past days, we had the pleasure of being part of Forum ScaleUP at Naučno-tehnološki park Novi Sad. Organized by Minds Europe Institute and Regionalna razvojna agencija Bačka, the forum brought together people ready to learn and connect.

What stayed with us most was not only the programme, but everything that happened around it: the conversations between sessions, the exchange of experiences and the feeling that something meaningful can begin when people meet with openness and a common sense of purpose.

Thank you to the organizers and everyone involved for creating such a welcoming, engaging and generous atmosphere and to all the people whose warmth made this experience one to remember.

Two new EU projects and a lot to look forward to 🇪🇺

We’re genuinely excited to share that we’re part of two newly approved European projects (and even more excited about what comes next).

The first, DiverseVET (Driving Inclusion and Innovation in Vocational Excellence for SMEs, ERASMUS-EDU-2025-PEX-COVE), focuses on creating Centres of Vocational Excellence for Diversity and promoting inclusive values in vocational education and training. It is a project with real purpose, especially in supporting SMEs in the energy and digital sectors to build more inclusive workplaces and stronger skills for the future.

The second, DIGI-METER (Measuring Digital Competence for Resilient Learning Ecosystems, ERASMUS-EDU-2025-PI-FORWARD-DIGITAL), works on one of the big challenges in education today: how to assess digital competences in a way that is reliable, inclusive and ethically sound.

Both speak to the kind of work we truly care about: education, inclusion, innovation and meaningful impact across Europe.

Growing Ideas in Absdorf! 🇦🇹

Great energy, great exchanges and great progress at the Transnational Partners Meeting in Absdorf, Austria, on 18-19 March 2025. Together with our partners, we focused on piloting, testing and evaluating the project’s training materials and methodologies, while also exploring how to maximise and share the its results.

As the supports innovation in market gardening, this meeting was a fantastic opportunity to strengthen collaboration and keep building practical tools for the sector.

A big thank you to Grand Farm and all partners for the fruitful discussions and continued commitment to the project.

Two days. One city. Endless ideas. 🇪🇺

On 22-23 January 2026, we joined the IDEAS Networking Event in Brussels, organised and hosted by CESIE ETS. It was 2 days filled with real conversations, familiar faces and new encounters that reminded us why collaboration sits at the heart of European projects.

Between sessions and informal chats, we exchanged ideas on education, training and research, reflected on current EU priorities and talked honestly about where projects begin, where they struggle and where they can go next. IDEAS offered the time and space to reconnect with colleagues and explore new partnerships without pressure. Just curiosity and openness.

What stayed with us most was the sense of community. Different backgrounds, different experiences, but a shared commitment to building initiatives that matter and deliver real impact across Europe.

Many thanks to CESIE ETS and everyone who made these days in Brussels meaningful. We’re heading back with new connections, clearer ideas, and renewed motivation for the work ahead. 🤝

Starting the year the way!

We kicked off 2026 with a productive (and truly unforgettable) SustainED project meeting in the beautiful city of Iași, Romania, thanks to our exceptional hosts at Universitatea „Alexandru Ioan Cuza” din Iași, who went above and beyond to make our experience both engaging and inspiring. 🙏

SustainED, co-funded by the EU, responds to the growing need for Higher Education Institutions to meaningfully embed sustainability, digital transformation and cross-institutional collaboration into their strategies, fully aligned with the European Green Deal, Erasmus+ priorities, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

We are especially proud to lead WP3: Campus SDG Audits & Action Plans, supporting HEIs in assessing, strengthening and accelerating their sustainability actions.

Helsinki moments we’re still smiling about 🇫🇮

Looking back at our recent Transnational Project Meeting in Helsinki, where partners came together for two productive days of exchange, alignment, and forward planning within the Unveil - Web 4.0 Project.

The meeting gave us the opportunity to review progress and, most importantly, to prepare for the next phase: the rollout of Web 4.0 training workshops in Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Tanzania, and Uganda.

A big part of the discussion built on our latest result:
📘 “Unveiling the Intelligent Web 4.0 Ecosystem: Web 4.0 Competence Framework”, which maps the skills needed for the future across four dimensions:

• Technical (AI, blockchain, data science, immersive technologies)
• Human (communication, critical thinking, adaptability, decision-making)
• Entrepreneurial (innovation, problem-solving, market awareness, resilience)
• Silent (Meta) (the transversal competences that tie it all together)

Aligning Inner Development with the Future of Higher Education 🎓

Higher education is increasingly being called upon to prepare students for complexity, uncertainty, and deep societal transformation. The ALIGN project (Embedding Inner Student-Centered Exploration and Development in Higher Education), co-funded by the EU, responds to this challenge by rethinking how learning is designed and experienced.

In a recent interview published by Lund University, Professor Christine Wamsler, underscores the importance of moving beyond purely cognitive learning. She highlights the need for universities to intentionally cultivate inner capacities, such as agency, compassion, courage, hope, and meaning-making, that enable students to translate knowledge into meaningful action.

As a contributing partner, Syncnify engages in ALIGN through its expertise in collaboration and capacity-building, supporting approaches that place the learner’s holistic development at the center of higher education reform.
