The Collection Lambert in Avignon was born from the vision of Yvon Lambert, a pioneering gallerist and collector who, from the 1960s onward, played a key role in bringing some of the most radical artistic voices of his time to France. By 1972, he was championing American Conceptual, Minimal and Land Art, placing them in dialogue with leading European artists.

In the 1980s, Lambert embraced a new generation working across painting, photography and video, supporting artists who would go on to define contemporary art. His extraordinary journey as a collector and gallerist found a new home with the opening of the Collection Lambert in Avignon in 2000.

Built through close relationships with artists and a sharp awareness of the transformations shaping contemporary art, the collection opened to the public in 2000. In 2012, Lambert donated 556 works to the French State, becoming one of the most significant donations made to France in over a century.

Today, the institution continues to reflect Lambert’s vision: collecting is also about building relationships, capturing the spirit of an era, and transmitting that perspective to future generations.

At the Biennale de Bonifacio, Nimu Dormi — Nobody Sleeps explores celebration as a space of freedom, resistance, and collective transformation.

In Manikongo, filmed in Bahia, Puma Camillê brings Candomblé, capoeira, and voguing into dialogue, weaving together the body, spirituality, memory, and rebellion.

Through dance and community, celebration becomes an act of survival and a way of imagining new forms of being together.

The work also references Xica Manicongo, who was born in the Congo around 1600 and is now regarded as a symbolic figure in Afro-Brazilian LGBTQIA+ struggles.

Brazilian art is gaining an increasingly prominent position on the international stage, across major art fairs, biennials, exhibitions, auctions, and institutional collections.

Since 2023, Sophie Su Art Advisory has closely followed this movement, transforming research, data, and market access into qualified insights for collectors, investors, institutions, and new audiences.

Now, we are taking a new step with Circulação da Arte Brasileira no Mundo, a project approved under Brazil’s Rouanet Law | Pronac 2510350, dedicated to promoting, educating about, and expanding the international presence of Brazilian art.

We are seeking companies and institutional partners who want to be part of this movement and align their brands with Brazilian culture, education, knowledge, and the country’s international visibility.

If your company believes in culture as a tool for impact and positioning, we would love to hear from you.

Your introduction can also make a difference. Support. Share. Be part of this movement!

Women have always played a central role in the history of Brazilian art, even when their contributions were overlooked.

On August 13, Marta Fadel launches Os caminhos da mulher na arte brasileira at FGV, a book that celebrates women artists across generations while revisiting those who were erased from the traditional narrative.

A timely invitation to rethink Brazilian art history through the women who helped shape it.

An ancient city shaped by the sea, monumental pyramids, polychrome reliefs and a mysterious two-headed serpent said to remain imprisoned inside a sacred mountain.

From Chan Chan, capital of the ChimĂş Kingdom, to the Huacas del Sol y de la Luna, this journey through northern Peru reveals a world where political power, ritual, mythology and nature were deeply intertwined.

Watch the video to discover the stories hidden within these extraordinary archaeological sites.

Northern Peru remains one of the country’s best-kept secrets, preserving extraordinary traces of the pre-Inca Sicán, Moche, and Chimú cultures.

A heartfelt thank you to collector and patron Carlos Marsano for organizing this exceptional journey and bringing together such an inspiring group of international art specialists and Latin American collectors.

We highly recommend the Moche Route, still largely unknown to international tourists. The journey continues at Chan Chan, the largest pre-Columbian adobe city in the Americas.

From Man Ray’s muse to war correspondent, Lee Miller lived many lives in one.

A Vogue model in the late 1920s, she moved to Paris in 1929 and became Man Ray’s artistic collaborator. From this period came La Prière, an iconic Surrealist image recently sold at Christie’s for $510,000.

During World War II, she became a war photographer for Vogue, documenting the Blitz, the Allied advance and the concentration camps.

Her famous photograph in Hitler’s bathtub, taken in Munich on the same day she documented Dachau, became a powerful symbol of the defeat of Na**sm.

An unmissable exhibition, on view until August 8 at the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris.
