More than a retrospective, the first major exhibition in France dedicated to Leonora Carrington reveals the construction of a universe entirely her own, between Surrealism, memory, exile, and reinvention. From her years in France with Max Ernst to her life in Mexico, Carrington transformed personal ruptures into a visual language filled with female figures, hybrid creatures, and dreamlike atmospheres.

The exhibition also highlights her fascination with alchemy, tarot, magical traditions, and the “alchemical kitchen,” where cooking becomes a metaphor for transformation. Carrington emerges as a visionary artist, capable of turning intimate experience into myth, mystery, and imaginative power.

Christie’s set new auction records for Jackson Po***ck, Constantin Brancusi, Mark Rothko and Joan Miró, led by Po***ck’s Number 7A, 1948, sold for $181.2 million. Brancusi’s Danaïde reached $107.6 million, becoming the artist’s auction record and one of the most expensive sculptures ever sold at auction.

At Sotheby’s, Rothko, Basquiat, Warhol and Fontana also confirmed the strength of blue-chip demand in a selective but highly competitive market.
