Why we are increasingly unable to address today’s converging ecological, social, and economic crises?
I trace its roots in Cartesian and Newtonian thinking and show how this “machine” metaphor shaped science, medicine, economics, and governance, while also obscuring planetary limits and systemic complexity.
Individuals and societies are responding through four stages of awareness:
*discovery,
*response,
*habit formation, and
*deeper questioning.
The article closes by setting the stage for a deeper exploration of systemic thinking and alternative ways of organising our world.
