Here’s the sugar-coating, free, raw, and un asked for story about how one experience jackknifed my business, life, thoughts, and world the last 18+ months. *cliff notes version*

It was 2024. I had just started working with a new dream client. Well, at least what I thought was a dream client. Within weeks, what has started as a part-time engagement turned into a near full-time contract. PS don’t you love it when that happens?

A few months passed this way, with minor hiccups, all was well – until one day it wasn’t. The day before I heard nothing but positive things. How her revenue had increased, business was growing, things were smoother. Only to wake up to a message stating that I owed her a refund. Talk about a heart dropping moment. I had no idea what had happened in less than 24 hours to cause such a drastic turn of events. After several hours of back-and-forth discussion, the reason emerged and within the next 48 hours, the full-time agreement moved to a mutual separation of business.

As I wrapped up final tasks, documents, and asset delivery, I encountered info that made my heart skip 70 billion beats and start my 18 month long dark spiral of doubt. what had appeared as a mutual agreement to separate turned into her going for potential legal action.

While knowing that I had done nothing wrong, and had fulfilled all pieces of my contract, I still lived in fear of repercussions for the better part of 16 months. Every letter on letterhead, every client wanting to connect and chat, anything that could potentially look like a threat suddenly was one. Even if it wasn’t.

Over 18 months I lost out on clients. I lost confidence in myself in my abilities, I stopped chasing dreams and delivering magic and traded it for touring in the shadows and trembling.

I lost myself and I’m embarrassed AF that I let it win. But know you can still f*ck up and come back. You can be less than perfect and still be an expert. Your story isn’t over, you’ve got this. 🫶🏻

Being a business owner and mompreneur was never in the plans (not like the universe was onboard with my way anyway…). I fell into it when I was over a business owner who valued over working and less balance.

It was the single greatest fall I could have had. Of course at the moment I didn’t see it but as time went on, all I could do was be grateful for it.

This week we have been exploring Europe as a family. As I stood inside St Chapelle, a magnificent cathedral from the 1300’s, it hit me and brought me to tears.

This was it. This is what I built my business for.

It has never been about the money. It’s been about the ability to do incredible things, to see the world, to try adventures, to share the journey with those whom I love, and to help others do the same. I don’t need fame or millions.

I need freedom.

And so do you. You deserve to chose your path and build your life. To explore with your loved ones.
