Today we will discuss how some translation companies harm our industry by outsourcing to developing countries and subcontracting companies providing low-cost, unregulated, and unprofessional work. We have nothing against developing countries. The problem here is they hire unqualified linguists or students using machines or Google translation and who are paid meagre wages for their work. That work is sent back to qualified translators who earn less as they are only paid to proofread and correct the inferior work. It becomes a vicious circle that we have encountered a lot lately. This is bad, dishonest and unethical, not just concerning these translation agencies, but also because clients tend to look for the lowest prices, consequently provoking these problems. As a company hiring translation services, it is important to provide clear information about what processes are used, where the translations are done, and the credentials of our translators. We are very proud to work with local translators in the countries where we have our offices: currently, Canada, the U.S., Mexico, France, and Spain.

Great article in twitter today- What goes into a translation?

“What goes into a translation? Meaning, style, voice, ambiguity — and a lot of trial and error. Here's how a translator carries a book from one language to another, line by line. https://t.co/sCqnOSeSfV”
