The Huawei Nuremberg Tech Arena 2025 is now open for registration!

Form a team of 1–3 students (Bachelor’s to PhD) from the European Union and take on a challenge that’s all about shaping the future of energy.

You’ll work with real-world electricity market data to develop a smart Energy Management System (EMS) for utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The competition includes three core challenges:

🔋 Operation Optimization: Create an algorithm that maximizes battery revenue through dynamic charge/discharge based on market prices and ancillary services like FCR and aFRR.
🌍 Investment Optimization: Identify the most profitable EU countries for long-term BESS installation.
⚡ Bonus Challenge: Go even further by optimizing advanced system behavior.

Compete towards a €20,000 prize pool and internship opportunities with Huawei.
