Always worth remembering this. Leaders often put too much pressure on their own shoulders with the goal to come up with all the solutions. This is actually counter-productive! Think first that you are inspiring people by coaching them. Let the Talent shine around you.

Just came across this abstract of a conversation with NASA's Lindy Elkins-Tanton where she underscores the critical role leaders play in shaping team culture, and how small behaviours can make or break results. With eloquent examples, she demonstrates how - particularly when in crisis situations - the number one effective thing to do is to stay calm and to be civil and respectful. It is also about truly believing that a solution will be found and lead that way. Finally, acting quickly, whilst communicating actions continuously and repeatedly. Worth the read!

I recently re-read 'Unleashed: The Unapologetic Leader's Guide to Empowering Everyone Around You'. Through clear & practical messages, both authors stress that the most critical part of a leader's role is to build others up. Leadership isn’t about you. It’s about how effective you are at empowering other people and making sure that this impact endures even in your absence. An inspiring read!

Indeed! True leadership isn't about having all the answers; it’s about creating an environment where a junior staffer feels empowered to say, "I think we’re missing something." When you make it safe to speak up, you replace fear with curiosity.
