Anyone in the market for fantasy of course need look no further than high fashion. What if anything is an industry devoted to clothing the most well heeled of the well heeled if it is not first trafficking in fantasy? Rest assured, dear reader that the taste makers at Harper’s Bazaar do not disappoint in this regard for the December 2018 issue in an haute couture story starring none other than Abby Champion. Photographed in a sun drenched Paris by Mariano Vivanco, the editorial celebrates the latest couture collection, which says here, “evoke pure fantasy.” The dreamlike quality of the pictures could be the lighting, could be the hyperreal detail at work in every frame. What is likelier, however is the very fanciful nature of the pictures in which, say, Abby (pictured) wearing a feathered feathered coat by Fendi Couture whilst embarking on a light jog through the Tuileries. In what world, eh? Abby’s world actually, Abby’s world.

What a year this week has been! Crikey. The day after Thursday night’s, wait for it, spectacle is nothing short of an opportunity to appreciate the depth and breadth of this industry called fashion. Look no further than Vogue China, which today unveiled its December 2018 cover featuring Grace Elizabeth photographed by Sølve Sundsbø. Yes, dear reader, less than 24 hours ago Grace was doing her thing in various shades of pink and Friday here she is on her dozenth Vogue cover wearing a smart look by Miu Miu. This is a striking cover, a it must be said, a testament to to Grace’s dynamic range as a model. Power Woman indeed, the headlines don’t in fact lie.
