Great read:

Key points
Independent funders cannot fill the gap left by budget cuts – but they can play a key role in building new models of social support that prioritise prevention, early intervention and building cross-sector models of change.
The ecology approach requires funders to turn their differences into strength by being clearer about where they have impact and comparative advantage in relation to their peers.
Devolution is an opportunity to build new models of social change – but this will require independent funders to work closely together to better understand their impact and potential in a place, and learn the lessons of Scottish and Welsh devolution so far.

We invite applications for grants from any individual or organization in thirteen eligible southern African countries to support work that addresses discrimination against le***an women or transgender people.
To be eligible for a grant you must be:
A le***an woman or a transgender person, or an organization that is led by le***an women or transgender people; or
A general LGBTI organization that addresses discrimination against transgender people or le***an women.
Grant applications will be accepted in all four grant categories listed above. However, the grant period will be a maximum of one year only, ending on 30 September 2016.
The maximum amount for Hungwe / Fish Eagle grants will therefore be R150,000 over 12 months and the maximum amount for Mosu / Umbrella Tree grants will be R300,000 over 12 months.
The thirteen eligible countries from which grant applications will be accepted are Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
Grant allocations will be made in a two-step process.
The first step to apply for a grant is to read the guidelines for the submission of grant concept notes (Guideline G3) that you can download on this page, and then submit a concept proposal. Your concept proposal must be submitted in the format provided by the Other Foundation (Form G1), which you can also download on this page.
All the concept proposals received will be assessed by an independent panel made up of peers of grant applicants. These peer reviewers will recommend the concept proposals that will be taken to the second stage of the grant making process.
In the second stage, the recommended applicants will be invited to develop a full grant proposal for submission to the Other Foundation’s board of trustees for funding. The board of trustees will make the final decision about grant allocations.
The Foundation has ZAR 1.5 million for grant allocations in this round of grant making. Decisions about which concept proposals will be taken to the second stage of the process, will be made within three weeks of the closing date for the submission of concept proposals.
The closing date for submission of grant concept proposals is Wednesday, 18 November 2015.
