A remarkable journey through one of the most challenging sailing routes in the world. ❄️⛵

Aboard their Garcia Exploration 52 Lifexplorer, Alberto and his crew crossed the Northwest Passage this summer, sailing from Alaska to Greenland through the ice and remote waters of the Arctic.

An adventure that perfectly embodies the spirit of Garcia Yachts: going further, exploring beyond the usual routes and embracing the freedom of long-distance sailing.

Northwest Passage 2026. Complete. ✅

4,203 nautical miles from Nuuk to Nome.

Sadik and his crew have completed the Northwest Passage aboard Hafiz, their Garcia Explocat 52.

From Greenland, across Baffin Bay, through the Canadian Arctic and the Bering Strait, the route called for preparation, autonomy and constant adaptation to the conditions.

A demanding program. Taken all the way through.

When the tide goes out, capability remains.

On the vast sands of Vauville, Normandy, the Garcia Exploration 60 Landventure demonstrates one of the practical advantages of an aluminium centreboard yacht.

In suitable tidal and seabed conditions, the ability to take the ground can extend access to coastlines, anchorages and stopovers beyond conventional harbour routes.

For the crew, this means more than reaching shallow water. It creates additional options and greater control over the sailing programme.

"The Northwest Passage attempt is underway. 🧊

Since leaving Nuuk in mid-July, Hafiz, Sadik’s Garcia Explocat 52, has been steadily making her way north.

From the fjords of Greenland to the Arctic Circle and the ice of Disko Bay, the route has already required constant observation and adaptation.

After Ilulissat and the final miles along Greenland’s west coast, *Hafiz* reached Upernavik before setting off across Baffin Bay towards Arctic Canada.

The crossing brought fast sailing, icebergs and periods of dense fog, before reaching Pond Inlet and continuing west through Lancaster Sound to Devon Island.

On August 8, *Hafiz* was anchored in Burnett Inlet. The next objective: continue towards Fort Ross and Bellot Strait, as the crew assesses the conditions ahead.

The route continues. One stage, one decision at a time.
