Tubex Tree Shelters

Tubex Tree Shelters Advancing growth Tubex is the world’s leading manufacturer of tree shelters, with nearly 50 years of experience in advancing growth.

We have been pioneering tree shelter solutions since the 1980s, giving saplings the best chances at growth. We are committed to promote the move towards a circular economy, with a range of sustainable solutions that customers can choose from for their particular needs, making sure that all our products are protective, responsible and scalable. Our portfolio includes both recyclable shelters and bi

odegrable shelters. Research points at recyclable shelters with recycled content as the lowest environmental impact solution, which we recommend for accessible areas for collection - and recycling is free across our+15 recycling UK hubs through the Tubex Collection & Recycling Programme (tubex.com/recycling)

Our recyclable shelters are the only ones in the market containing recycled content - we are currently at 35% recycled polymer across the entire range, and our goal is to increase that to 100% in the shortest time possible. Where recycling is not feasible, we recommend our Tubex Nature (tubex.com/nature) biodegradable tree shelters, tested to biodegrade in soil and made from a bio-based blend. Behind many new hedges, woodlands, or restored nature spaces, there’s usually a small group of people giving up their evenings and weekends to make it happen. Volunteers work hard with whatever resources they have and sometimes, that means stretching budgets further than they’ll go.

Enter the Tubex Grow Together programme. It’s our way of helping those volunteer groups to keep planting by donating tree shelters to support the work they’re already doing.🌱

If you know a community project that deserves a hand, or you’d like to learn more about how the scheme works, you can find everything on our Grow Together page: https://tubex.com/sustainability/grow-together-tree-protection-donations/

Our tree shelters are made For The Trees, in more ways than one. With saplings facing losses of up to 50-80% in their early years due to browsing, extreme weather and competition, it's vital that we give young trees the best possible chance at survival.

That’s why we’re focused on supporting the people and projects doing the planting, making it easier for everyone to protect saplings, improve establishment rates and build healthier woodlands for the future.

And that support is continued when those trees are established. Our Collection & Recycling Scheme helps land managers remove and dispose of used shelters responsibly.

10 million trees planted! 🌳

The Forest of Marston Vale has reached a major milestone, planting 10 million trees as part of England’s Community Forests!

Long‑term planting like this makes a real difference: healthier landscapes, better habitats and greener spaces for people to enjoy.

We were proud to be a part of the journey, with a significant number of those saplings protected using Tubex tree shelters, ensuring they get the best possible start.

Well done to all involved!

Did you know? The Hawthorn is one of the most reliable signs that spring has properly arrived. May is when Hawthorn makes the landscape stand out - its bright white blossom appears almost all at once, turning hedgerows and field edges into long strips of colour.

Hawthorn is a tough, adaptable species that handles poor soils, exposed sites and unpredictable weather without much fuss. Its blossom supports early pollinators, and later in the year the berries provide an important food source for birds.

Planting young trees is always an act of optimism, but it also comes with challenges. Weather, wildlife and unpredictable conditions can all make those early years the hardest. That’s why our focus has always been on supporting the sector to help young trees get through their most vulnerable years and give them the best possible chance to thrive.

Trees are vital for both our environment and our economy. From nesting birds to sawmills, a healthy forestry sector supports far more life and generates more wealth than we often realise.

In recent years, the UK has made significant progress on increasing tree cover, expanding from around 7 percent of land area in the 1960s to 13 percent today, but we know there's still work to be done.

We've spent the last four decades helping trees and young saplings make it through those early, vulnerable years - and we’d love to hear your input on what else the industry should be doing.

This weekend, The Carbon Community is hosting its annual Big Tree Shelter Recycle at Glandwr Forest, bringing volunteers together to collect used shelters and return them through the Tubex Collection & Recycling Programme.

The Carbon Community is a UK environmental charity running long‑term woodland research to better understand how trees and soils store carbon. Projects like the Glandwr Forest Carbon Study compare tree species and soil treatments to build solid, science‑led evidence for nature‑based climate solutions, with community involvement at the heart of the work.

It's great to see Tubex Tree shelters playing such a vital role in the study, protecting young saplings from browsing and giving them the best chance to establish evenly across the site. That early protection is essential for gathering reliable, long‑term data.

Once trees outgrow them, collecting shelters matters just as much. It keeps redundant plastic out of the woodland and allows materials to be recycled and reused, supporting a practical, circular approach to tree protection.

As the current planting season draws to a close, the Tubex Collection & Recycling 'season' begins!

Starting from April, many of our free-to-use recycling hubs will be accepting drop offs of redundant shelters - although make sure to check the dates as not all hubs are available throughout the collection 'season' (typically April to September).

Once the shelters come back to us they are processed and turned back into raw material - maintaining circularity in sustainable tree protection. ♻️

Tree planting and woodland creation has taken off in a really big way over the past decade with everybody from large forestry contractors to local volunteer groups getting stuck in. Of course, planting trees means sourcing saplings, materials and labour which can be a challenge for smaller organisations trying to do their bit.

Thats why we setup the Tubex Grow Together programme - which donates tree shelters to deserving volunteer organisations to help them with their planting efforts. 🌳
