ABERKIL PEST FACTS – WASPS IN AUTUMN
Wasps can still be very active at this time of year.
As we move into autumn, wasp colonies begin to wind down. There is less work for the worker wasps inside the nest, so they spend more time searching for sugary food.
You may notice them around:
• Sweet drinks
• Fallen fruit
• Outdoor food
• Bins and recycling
• Flowers and other sources of sugar
This is why wasps can sometimes seem more persistent around people in late summer and early autumn.
As the weather gets colder, the workers and old queen eventually die. Newly mated queens find sheltered places to spend the winter before starting new nests the following spring.
Old wasp nests are not reused.
If you still have a busy wasp nest around your home or business, Aberkil Pest Control can help.
