ONE partnered with Scottish Enterprise, Scottish Development International and Sustainable Alpha to bring the investors to Aberdeen, curating a unique opportunity for innovation-driven businesses to pitch their research commercialisation.

🌍 Seven high-potential life sciences companies, working in fields including neurodegeneration, anti-infectives, obesity, hypertension and cancer, showcased their groundbreaking work.

📍 Aberdeen is home to a distinctive life sciences cluster, developing novel research into solutions and launching them to market. ONE is building an entrepreneurial ecosystem for the sector. Connecting life sciences businesses with funding for growth is an essential part of this work.

🚀 The increase in entries to this year's NES Food & Drink Awards is a testament to the growth of the north east sector.

This year, 46 businesses submitted 68 entries across eight categories in the awards, which celebrate success in the vital growth sector and recognise investment in people, products and processes across this diverse and dynamic sector.

33 businesses have been shortlisted following two days of judging by industry leaders and category experts.

Entrants benefitted from judges from across the UK sharing their knowledge and providing feedback on entries.

🤩 Martyn Lee FCMI CMgr., Executive Chef for Waitrose & Partners, who leads their food innovation team, judged the best new food product category. He has worked within food development for over 20 years, first within the restaurant sector and for the past 14 years in manufacturing and retail. He is passionate about bringing quality, exciting products to market, using data-led insights including AI.

💬 Martyn Lee said: “It was such an honour to judge the New Food Product category and I had a fantastic time meeting with so many brilliant people in Aberdeenshire. I was really impressed by the innovative products that had been developed, along with the fantastic quality of the produce used.
A big congratulations to all who entered the competition, and I’m really excited for the winner to be announced next month.”

It was great to see Kevin Dalgleish represent the north east region last night! 🤩

As he returned to the kitchen Kevin expressed his passion for produce saying “we’re really in a great place here up in Aberdeenshire where it’s all here on our doorstep”

The two AA rosette and recommended was one of the fantastic local businesses involved in last year’s line-up creating a five-course tasting menu sourced entirely from Aberdeenshire produce.

Saturday, June 1 will see P&J Live play host to Taste Of Grampian for the third consecutive year.
