June gives us longer days, warmer afternoons, and more chances to get outside as a family.

For an older loved one, that time outdoors can mean more than just “fresh air”.

These small moments can lift their mood, help them feel included, and bring gentle movement into the day.

A few ways families can help:
🌳 Choose places with benches, toilets, and easy paths
💧Keep water close by and gently remind them to drink often
🧢 Bring a hat or light layer for comfort
🚗 Plan transport so the day feels easy, not tiring
⏰ Go early morning or later in the evening when it is cooler
🤍 Keep the outing short if your loved one gets tired quickly

And if family members are not nearby or available, a carer can help too.

At Clarity Homecare, our carers can support your loved one to get ready, go for a short walk, visit a local park, enjoy time in the garden, or simply sit outside safely with someone by their side.

Get in touch with us to learn how we can support your loved one at home and in the community. 💛

Dementia care is not a fixed service.

The support someone needs in the early stages can look very different from the support they may need later on.

Our latest blog explains the 7 stages of dementia, what families may notice at each stage, and when extra care may be needed at home.

Your mum sailed through the cataract surgery.

Then you realised the recovery is not as simple as “just resting at home”.

That is the part nobody mentions at the pre-op appointment.

No getting water near the eye while it heals.

No driving to the pharmacy to collect the eye drops.

And then there are the regular eye drops, which can be difficult to manage when hands are not as steady as they used to be.

Hundreds of thousands of cataract surgeries take place in the UK every year.

But the recovery period at home can still catch families off guard.

Short-term home care exists for exactly these circumstances.

The right support in place before the surgery date means the recovery happens properly, at home, without it falling entirely on the family.

If surgery is already booked, it is worth thinking about who will help during those first few days at home.

June is National Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Month. 🍓🥦

A lovely time of year in the UK to enjoy fresh, colourful produce.

For older adults, fruit and vegetables can help support nutrition, energy, and hydration.

But eating enough is not always easy, especially if chewing feels harder or big meals feel too much.

A few simple ideas:
🍉 Offer watermelon, oranges, or berries for extra hydration
🥣 Try soups if chewing feels difficult
🥤 Make smoothies with soft fruit, yoghurt, or milk
🥕 Cut fruit and vegetables into smaller pieces
🍌 Keep snacks nearby and within reach

At Clarity Homecare, our carers can help with meal preparation. We make sure your loved one enjoys fresh, home-cooked meals made to their tastes and nutritional needs.

If your loved one could use a little support at home, our team is always here to help. 💛

With the heat wave currently affecting many parts of the UK, it’s important to keep an extra eye on older loved ones. ☀️

Hot temperatures can be harder on them, especially for those living alone or with health conditions.

Here are a few ways to help them stay comfortable:

💧 Encourage regular drinks throughout the day
🪟 Close curtains or blinds before the sun hits the room
👕 Keep a cool change of clothing nearby
🍉 Offer cold foods like fruit, yoghurt, salads, or cold snacks
🌳 Avoid going outdoors during peak afternoon heat
📞 Call or visit to check how they are feeling, not just whether they “need anything”

During a heat wave, a quick check-in can be more than a kind gesture.

It can help an older loved one feel safer, calmer, and less alone at home. 💛

The best Bank Holiday weekends are rarely the expensive ones.

They are the ones with muddy trainers by the front door,

grandchildren running too far ahead in the park,

a dog refusing to come back when called,

and somebody unpacking a picnic that was meant to last all afternoon but somehow disappears in twenty minutes.

For many families, these are the moments that matter most.

And for many older people, staying connected to those moments, their family, and the life around them, means everything.

As the long weekend begins, we hope families across our community get the chance to slow down, enjoy the fresh air, and spend time with the people who make home feel like home. 💛

Mental Health Awareness Week was a reminder that sometimes, the most important part of care is simply having someone to talk to.

A chat over a cup of tea.
A shared laugh.
Someone asking how your day has been.

For many older adults, these small moments of connection can make a real difference to emotional well-being and help reduce feelings of loneliness.

At Clarity Homecare, companionship care is about more than support with daily routines.

It’s about bringing comfort, conversation, and connection into everyday life.

If you’d like to learn more about how we can support your loved one, our team is always here to help.

Today is World Ovarian Cancer Day. 💙

We want to stand with every woman and every family going through this.
A diagnosis changes everything overnight.

And while families do everything they can, the day-to-day stuff can still get overwhelming.

That is what we are here for: the morning routine, meals, and medication.
Just being there on the hard days.

So today we say: No woman left behind. No family left to figure it out alone.

📞If someone you love could do with some support at home, come and have a chat with us.
