Our senior marine consultant Victoria Ajinkya was in Great Yarmouth this week to carry out an OVID inspection on the Esvagt Njord.

She apparently doesn't enjoy Donna Van Damme's ability to summon the sun but like Donna, she does supply excellent images.

The Esvagt Njord is a dedicated Service Operation Vessel (SOV) and work/repair ship operated by ESVAGT A/S, supporting the Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm in the North Sea.

Marex has a number of highly qualified and experienced OVID accredited surveyors across Europe, the Middle East and Africa that specialise in OVID inspections of offshore vessels and drilling rigs. An OVID inspection is a standardised marine assurance and safety assessment for offshore support vessels.

As an aside, if the name Esvagt Njord sounds familiar to you, it might be due to the rescue of seven injured fishermen the crew carried out in December 2020.

Responding to a distress call, skipper Brian Kristiansen learned that the ship was taking in water. Several explosions on board had left all seven fishermen in need of first aid – some seriously injured so Esvagt Njord started evacuating the fishing vessel. Several wounds were treated on the spot assisted by Equinor’s medic and staff from Certex and Siemens Gamesa but three seamen were injured so severely, they were evacuated by helicopter.

Congratulations to our Head of Data & AI Kai Henderson for achieving first class honours for his BSc (Hons) in Data Science.

He's done it all while working full-time within the business through a graduate apprenticeship, so while building Marex's data & AI capability and supporting our clients maximise the value from their data, there have been a lot of late nights and weekends full of assignments.

Well done, Kai. It's a success you definitely deserve.

It's quite the title, but we've adopted it from the words of Simon Jessel from Aberdeenshire Council Harbours.
