Can your family join you in the UK? Your job can change the answer.

Holding a Skilled Worker visa does not automatically make your partner or children eligible to join you. Your occupation and immigration history can affect which rules apply.

Before planning the move, three questions deserve attention:

• Does your occupation allow dependants?
• What relationship and financial evidence will your family need?
• Can a family member already in the UK switch to this route?

A2Z Immigration Solutions’ guide explains the eligibility checks and application steps that help families prepare with greater clarity.

From 1 October 2026, being “self-employed” or “not on the payroll” may no longer be enough to put someone outside your Right to Work considerations.

The UK’s Right to Work framework has expanded, bringing certain working arrangements - including worker contracts, individual subcontractors and some online matching services - within a wider compliance framework.

For employers, the important question is no longer simply:

“Is this person our employee?”

Businesses may now need to look more carefully at how an individual is engaged, who is responsible for the work, and how contractual or subcontracting arrangements are structured.

This is particularly relevant for businesses using flexible labour, subcontractors or more complex supply chains.

Our latest article explains what changed from 1 October and the practical points employers should understand.

Your ILR application may be years away. Your preparation should not be.

For many Skilled Workers, settlement feels like something to think about towards the end of the qualifying period.

But five years is a long time.

Employers change. Payroll systems change. Passports are renewed. Trips abroad become difficult to remember. Old correspondence gets deleted. And documents that seem unimportant today may be much harder to recover several years later.

That is why good record-keeping from the beginning of your Skilled Worker journey can make such a difference when the time comes to prepare for Indefinite Leave to Remain.

Our latest article explains the records worth keeping throughout your journey, including your sponsorship and employment history, travel records, immigration documents and evidence of residence.

Think of ILR as a long-term project, not a last-minute application.

When sponsorship rules change, the right strategy matters. 🇬🇧

MuZo’s Turkish Kitchen in Aberdeen has successfully secured its first sponsor licence.

With changes to the sponsorship framework creating additional challenges for hospitality employers, the case required careful consideration of the genuine role, the appropriate occupation code and the evidence needed to support the application.

Our team assisted with the preparation and submission of the sponsor licence application, ensuring the case was presented clearly and in line with the relevant requirements.

Result: Sponsor licence granted — first time.

For UK employers considering sponsoring overseas workers, good preparation starts long before the application is submitted.

Speak to A2Z Immigration Solutions about your organisation’s sponsor licence requirements.

A UK visa refusal may be challengeable — but choosing the wrong route can cost valuable time.

Appeals and administrative reviews are often described as two versions of the same process. They are not.

An administrative review generally focuses on whether the Home Office made a caseworking error. An appeal is an independent tribunal process and can involve much broader legal issues.

The crucial point? You usually cannot simply choose whichever route appears more suitable. Your decision letter, the type of refusal and the rights attached to that decision are fundamental.

Our latest article explains:
• what administrative review is designed to correct
• when an appeal may be available
• why the evidence and arguments that can be considered differ
• what to examine before deciding your next step

Immigration circumstances vary, and the appropriate response should be considered in light of the individual facts of the case.

Being able to build your life in the UK means more when your family can be there with you. 🇬🇧

We are pleased to have supported Tahura Arif Momin with her Skilled Worker dependant application, which has now been successfully granted — allowing her to join her husband in the UK.

Her husband was already working in the UK as a Skilled Worker, and the priority was clear: prepare the application carefully and move the case forward without unnecessary delay.

Our team prioritised the matter from the outset, compiled the required supporting evidence and assisted with the application process through to the successful outcome.

For Skilled Worker visa holders hoping to bring their partner or family to the UK, careful preparation and the right supporting evidence can be an important part of the process.

A Skilled Worker salary can look right on paper — and still deserve a much closer check before the CoS is assigned.

For sponsors, salary planning is not simply about choosing an annual figure.

The occupation’s going rate, contracted working hours and the way the remuneration package is structured can all affect the assessment. What appears commercially straightforward may therefore raise a very different immigration compliance question.

Before assigning a Certificate of Sponsorship, employers should be asking:

• Does the salary meet the correct requirement for this particular role and worker?
• Have the contracted hours been factored into the calculation properly?
• Are you relying on payments or allowances that may not be treated the way you expect?

Our latest article examines how sponsors can stress-test salary and working hours before sponsorship decisions are finalised—and why getting the structure right at the planning stage matters.

A visa refusal does not always mean the applicant was ineligible.

Dhruv’s Graduate visa application was initially refused because his university reported his successful course completion after the application had already been submitted.

The timing created a serious problem—but it did not accurately reflect the fact that he had completed his degree.

Our team carefully reviewed the decision, identified the underlying issue and explained the available options. We then supported Dhruv with a fresh application, the correct supporting evidence and the necessary steps within the available 14-day window.

We are pleased to share that his Graduate visa has now been approved.

This outcome demonstrates why every refusal should be examined against the individual facts. The reason stated in the decision—and the action taken next—can make a significant difference.

Have you received a visa refusal or are you uncertain about your next step? Contact A2Z Immigration Solutions to book a free initial consultation.

A job offer does not make a Skilled Worker visa application refusal-proof.

Even where a Certificate of Sponsorship has been assigned, an application can still be undermined by a detail that appeared routine at the time.

An inconsistency in the sponsorship information, an incorrect salary assessment, missing evidence or conflicting answers may create consequences for both the applicant and the employer.

The concerning part? Many of the most common refusal risks can be addressed before the application is submitted—provided someone identifies them in time.

Our latest article examines 12 common reasons for Skilled Worker visa refusals and the practical checks applicants and sponsors should consider in advance.
