We're celebrating 20 Years of Gavin at Converged!

Today marks 20 years since Gavin Simpson joined Converged - as employee number one (after Neil Christie).

Back then he was a young loon, joining a very small team and a business that was just getting started.

A lot has changed since those early days. Technology has evolved massively, the cyber threat landscape looks very different, and the business has grown significantly. Through it all, Gavin has been right at the centre of things.

As Technical Manager, Gavin spends his days solving problems for clients, managing projects, troubleshooting complex issues and researching new technologies to bring into our portfolio - helping guide the technical side of the business. More recently he’s even stepped slightly outside his comfort zone, taking part in panel discussions and speaking at our cyber security events.

He’s also responsible for organising some legendary staff poker nights over the years!

Yesterday our Cyber Security Lead Robbie Ross was back at Bucksburn Academy delivering a Digital Safety Awareness talk for S3 pupils.

Building on the momentum of , the session focused on helping pupils understand the risks they can face online and the simple habits that help keep them safer.

Anyone who has met Robbie or heard him speak will know how passionate he is about online safety. He has a natural way of engaging audiences and bringing an important topic to life, especially important for young people growing up with technology as part of everyday life.

Helping people understand how to stay safer online - whether at school, at home or at work - is something we’re proud to support.

Today marks our first hosted session as part of Cyber Scotland Week, and it’s a great reminder of why this initiative matters.

As a cyber-focused business, we’re proud to support Cyber Scotland Week and its goal of making practical cyber advice accessible to everyone - especially communities and groups that are often underserved.

As part of our contribution, we’re supporting a series of awareness-focused sessions taking place across the coming days and weeks:

25 Feb - Cyber awareness session with Aberdeen Cyrenians (charity)
4 March - Digital safety awareness event at Bucksburn Academy for S3 pupils
19 March - Customer-facing cyber resilience event with long-standing client Aberdeen FC, a finalist at the Scottish Cyber Awards 2026

🎄 Merry Christmas from the CCS team 🎄

As we wrap up 2025, we’d like to thank our customers, partners, suppliers and friends for their support - and our fantastic team for everything they do, including keeping services running over the festive period.

In lieu of Christmas cards and gifts, we’ve donated to Aberdeen Cyrenians, supporting people across the region facing homelessness, isolation and hardship. We’re proud to support this cause alongside colleagues across the Converged Solutions Group.

Our Founder, Neil Christie, spoke to Yahoo News about a festive frustration many households experience: Christmas lights slowing down WiFi. Some older or cheaper lights can interfere with broadband, leading to slower speeds at the worst possible time.

A winning weekend at Pittodrie!

Yesterday, Converged and IFB hosted clients at the AFC v Hearts match - our first Group-hosted outing together and it couldn’t have gone any better.

A brilliant afternoon, excellent company, and a well-deserved win for the Dons. We’re starting to think we might just be Aberdeen Football Club’s new lucky charms.

A big thank you to our clients for making the day so enjoyable - it was a pleasure spending time together outside the office.

And of course, thank you to AFC for the hospitality. We’re proud of our long-standing partnership and always enjoy supporting the team.

Tonight our Cyber Security Lead, Robbie Ross, is swapping boardrooms for the Bridge of Don Scout hut!

While Robbie’s day job is keeping our clients’ businesses secure, he’s passionate about sharing the cyber security message with community groups too.

A few years ago he spoke with the 46th Aberdeen Scouts, and we’re delighted he’s been invited back to meet the latest troop. This evening he’ll be chatting with them about the digital footprint we all leave behind every time we post online, and the importance of protecting personal info.

It’s all about giving young people the knowledge they need to enjoy the digital world safely.
