That’s a wrap on OPITO Global 2026 🌏
Day 2 brought our theme, A Shared Future of Safety: One Workforce. Many Sectors, to life, exploring how we can build a workforce that can move confidently across sectors, technologies and borders while maintaining the highest standards of safety and competence.
The day began with an inspirational keynote from Jo Farrell, who challenged industry to look beyond attracting new talent and focus on creating workplaces where people feel safe, supported and able to build lasting careers.
The future of our workforce was a key focus, from transferring existing skills into offshore wind, carbon capture and hydrogen, to strengthening competence assurance and ensuring skills are continually verified in the workplace.
We also celebrated the next generation through My Energy Future Live 2026, delivered in partnership with Petrosains Tech4All, as young innovators showcased solutions to real-world challenges.
Our global training network also explored how greater recognition of shared competence and targeted gap training could support workforce mobility across safety-critical industries.
Closing the conference, OPITO CEO Stephen Marcos Jones reinforced the opportunity ahead: map shared competence, recognise what is already equivalent, bridge genuine gaps and continue bringing industry together.
