Reflecting on a fantastic networking event celebrating the food and drink sector
Yesterday, the Business Gateway Aberdeen City and Shire team headed north to scenic Banff Castle for our latest networking event. It was great to see such a strong turnout and there was a real buzz in the room as business owners gathered to hear from an inspiring line up of local businesses drawn from the Food and Drink sector, each with unique journeys to share.
• Laura from Bumble & Brae spoke passionately about creating a "home from home" experience in her café, while delivering a vital reminder for all founders to record and understand the numbers behind your business.
• Lyndsay and Dean from Twistillery took us behind the scenes of their meticulously planned farm and distillery, a truly circular business that minimises waste whilst maintaining a strong sense of authenticity and personal touch.
• Suzi from Annie’s German Bakery explained how ONE SeedPod provided vital facilities their bakery needed for a successful launch, while they navigated the challenges of finding and fitting out a more permanent home for the business.
All of our speakers highlighted the importance of:
• Rigorous market research
• Long term thinking
• Supporting local and actively embracing a spirit of community.
The icing on the cake was the chance to sample some truly delicious German pretzels, fresh from Annie’s Bakery. They were superb!
A huge thank you to John Cox at Banff Castle and our very own MC Catherine Homewood for keeping us right on the day - and to everyone who came along, exchanging business cards and forging new connections.
