Aberdeen Inspired is the flag under which the city’s Business Improvement District (BID) is run. The aim is to make a real difference to businesses, residents and visitors. Aberdeen Inspired is one of a series of BIDs operating across Scotland, all within defined geographical areas of towns and cities ranging from Lerwick to Edinburgh. Join Waterstones for an event with Lindsay Paterson about his newest book, Lessons from Scottish Schools, at 5.30pm on Wednesday 17th June!

In this book, Paterson discusses the current Scottish education system and declining student’s attainment. He looks at the new curriculum of the past two decades, as well as countries with strong educational reputations such as Japan, Ireland, and Estonia to argue that the most student-centred education is one that is based on knowledge.

This event will include an audience Q&A and be followed by a book signing. Tickets are £5 for general admission or £23 if you want to include a book with your ticket. Hurry to the events page of our website to grab your tickets before they sell out!

As part of Paint The Town Tartan, the Robert Gordon’s College Pipe Band and Highland Dancers brought Aberdeen city centre to life with a special World Cup Highland Fling.

Starting at Trinity Centre, making its way through Union Terrace Gardens and finishing inside Bon Accord, the performances drew crowds and helped showcase the very best of Scottish culture and community spirit.
