Shift Availability:
⏰ Morning/Lunch - Approx. 7am until 2pm
⏰ Tea/Bed - Approx. 4pm until 10pm (split shift available in select areas)
⏰ Block Hours (1:1 Support) - Various Times (i.e. 3pm until 10pm)
⏰ Social Visits - Various Times (i.e. 10am until 2pm)
⏰ Nightshifts - Various Times (i.e. 10pm until 8am)

No ties to work set days or shifts. There is an option to only secure shifts that accommodate student timetables, family life commitments etc.

There is additionally an option for a consistent and stable work pattern that offers the same shifts on a 2 week rolling basis (alternate weekend work required).

No previous experience required. Comprehensive in-house training provided.

RATES:
• £15.00 per hour (Mon-Fri)
• £17.00 per hour (Sat-Sun)
• £0.50 per mile

SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS PROVIDED WITH:

• Moving & Handling Training
• Opportunity to complete SCQF Level 6 and/or 7 in Social Services and Healthcare

Congratulations to Aberdeen Community Support Worker, Racheal, on completing her SVQ Level 6 in Social Services and Healthcare 🤩🥳

Racheal completed the qualification in-house and was supported by SVQ Assessor, Lynn. Racheal kindly consented to us sharing her experience below.

“I am proud to share that I have completed my SVQ level 6 in Health and Social Care. Completing it was really demanding but truly rewarding.

The training gave me new knowledge about care and deepened my understanding of a person-centred approach to care. It taughtc by me how culture shapes care and why clear communication is essential to delivering meaningful support within legislation and good practice. I finished the programme a more confident and reflective care worker.

A heartfelt thank you to Aberness care for their understanding, encouragement and support throughout my journey. I am also grateful to my assessor, Lynn Vincent for her guidance, patience and feedback, which helped me grow in confidence and skill. Thank you to the Scottish Social Services Council for supporting the development of care workers.

I am excited to bring everything I have learned to the people I support every day.”

A huge congratulations to Inverurie Communtiy Support Worker, Natalie, on completing her SVQ Level 6 in Social Services & Healthcare 🤩🌟

Natalie started her role with Aberness 12 years ago this month! When it was time to complete her SVQ, Natalie voiced apprehension and doubt. Nevertheless, she has done absolutely amazing and got through the qualification, with the support of our in-house SVQ Assessor, Gail. Natalie kindly agreed to share her account below.

"I just want to say a very special thank you to my amazing SVQ assessor Gail . ❤️
When I started my SVQ, there were many times when I doubted myself and wondered if I would ever manage to complete it. English is not my first language, so sometimes I found things difficult and it was easy for me to feel discouraged.
But you were always there with patience, kindness and encouragement. You never made me feel like I couldn’t do it. Instead, you helped me understand, guided me through the difficult parts and gave me the confidence to keep going.
Honestly, without your support, patience and belief in me, I don’t think I would have completed my SVQ. You have been more than just an assessor—you have been someone who encouraged me when I needed it most like a friend ❤️
I am so proud of myself for getting to this point, but I also know that I couldn’t have done it without you.🙏🏻
Thank you for believing in me, for never giving up on me, and for helping me achieve something that at times I thought was impossible. I will always be grateful for everything you have done for me. ❤️🌷

A huge congratulations to our Community Support Worker, Sam, who was awarded August Employee of the Month 🥳🌟

Sam celebrates 2 years with Aberness next month and is dedicated to our Bucksburn/Dyce team. Sam commits herself to tea/bed shifts on our Bucksburn rota, as well as block hour shifts in Dyce.

Sam is known for her friendly approach and gentle nature; her presence is always valued. The positive feedback received regarding Sam has been consistent since she started. Family have contacted us direct to express how much their loved ones look forward to her visits… her banter is reportedly always a hit!

One family member reached out recently to highlight their appreciation for Sam specifically, as below.

Emma’s conscitentious approach enabled her to get through the qualification at a quick pace, still her enthusiasm to learn and develop shone throughout.

“I'm just thrilled to have obtained my SVQ, I genuinely never thought I would be able to do it. It took a lot of hard work, determination and some resubmissions but I got there in the end. I've worked in the care sector for years now and I'm just delighted to have a qualification that recognises the work I do.
I'd like to say a massive thank you again to my assessor Gail, her guidance and regular Teams calls were very much appreciated and the support she provided me really got me through the times when my brain wasn't working properly 🫣 To anybody else that hasn't yet started there SVQ, go for it! A massive congratulations to Aberdeen Community Support Worker, Feyisayo, who recently achieved her SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare (SCQF Level 6) 🥳🌟

Feyisayo completed her SVQ in-house and was supported by Aberness SVQ Assessor, Gail. Feyisayo was asked how she found the experience and here is what she had to say:

"I am delighted and extremely proud to have successfully completed my SCQF Level 6 in Social Services and Healthcare. This achievement marks an important milestone in my professional journey and has strengthened my knowledge, confidence and commitment to providing high-quality, person-centred care.

Throughout my experience in social care, I have developed practical skills in supporting individuals with personal care, daily routines, medication prompts, nutrition, wellbeing and maintaining independence and dignity. Completing this qualification has helped me connect my practical experience with a deeper understanding of safeguarding, duty of care, legislation, risk assessment, confidentiality, communication and professional standards.

I would like to sincerely thank my supportive assessor, Gail Clubb, for her guidance, encouragement and constructive feedback throughout the qualification. I am also very grateful to my organisation for supporting my professional development and contributing 50% of the required course fee. Their investment in my development has meant a great deal to me.

This qualification has made me more confident, knowledgeable and reflective in my role. Going forward, I will apply what I have learned to provide safer, more effective and compassionate support while promoting the dignity, choices, independence and wellbeing of the people I care for.

I am excited and proud of this achievement because it has made me a better version of myself professionally and motivated me to continue developing my career in social services and healthcare. “I am really proud to have passed my SVQ in Health and Social Care. It has taken a lot of hard work and commitment but it has been so worth it.
Working as a support worker while completing my SVQ has allowed me to put what I've learned into practice every day and has helped me grow personally and professionally.
Passing my SVQ has given me a real sense of achievement and has made me even more passionate about the care I provide to the people I support.
I am really grateful to everyone who supported and encouraged me throughout the journey.
