What I expected to find in Cody wasn’t what I actually found…
Like many people, I’d always associated Gunwerks with precision ri**es.
After spending several days in Cody, Wyoming, I realised I’d been looking at the company completely the wrong way.
Before travelling, I deliberately avoided researching too much. I wanted to experience Gunwerks firsthand and form my own opinions rather than be influenced by marketing or social media.
Over four days I watched instructors coaching hunters, sat through Long Range University, spent time on the range, climbed mountains with students, handled the equipment and shared conversations over dinner with the team.
What struck me wasn’t any one r***e or product—it was how everything connected.
Gunwerks isn’t simply building ri**es; they’re building an ecosystem around the modern precision hunter.
Equipment. Optics. Ballistics. Education. Hunting. Community.
Each element complements the next, with one clear purpose: to inspire and deliver the perfect shot.
That isn’t just about marksmanship. It’s about preparation, judgement, discipline and making ethical decisions when the moment matters.
As someone who has spent much of my career teaching precision r***e shooting and ethical hunting, that philosophy resonated deeply with me.
Technology alone doesn’t make better hunters.
Knowledge does.
Experience does.
Good coaching does.
Community does.
I arrived in Cody expecting to learn about a r***e company.
I left understanding that Gunwerks is building something much bigger than ri**es.
A huge thank you to Aaron Davidson, Jason Meyer, Derek Davidson, Brian Poor and the entire Gunwerks team for your hospitality and for allowing me to experience what you’ve built firsthand.
I have no doubt this won’t be my last visit to Cody.
