⚠️ A QUICK CHECK COULD SAVE YOU A £1,000 FINE!
Whether you’re driving a taxi, private hire vehicle, van or your own car, your number plates must meet UK legal requirements.
🟡 HERE’S WHAT TO CHECK:
✅ Correct spacing – No moving letters or numbers closer together to spell words or names.
✅ Legal lettering – Characters must use the approved font, size and spacing. No fancy or italic fonts.
✅ Correct colours – Black characters on a white front plate and yellow rear plate.
✅ BS AU 145e compliant – Plates fitted after 1 September 2021 must display the correct British Standard marking.
✅ Supplier details – The plate must display the required supplier information, including name and postcode.
✅ Good condition – No damage, fading or peeling that affects compliance or readability.
✅ Securely fitted – Plates must be properly attached and clearly visible.
✅ Rear plate lighting – Your registration must be illuminated at night.
✅ Clean and readable – Especially important during winter!
✅ Flags and identifiers – Only permitted combinations are allowed.
✅ 3D GEL & 4D PLATES – YES, these can be road legal when manufactured to the correct standards!
🔴 BE WARNED!
❌ Incorrectly displayed plates can result in an MOT failure.
