A misleading headline, but a good read.

Here are some key takeaways, which we have also encountered from our work in the food and drink sector. Although they might seem obvious, they are still worth repeating:
- It is almost always not what we eat but the process and journey food takes that determines its impact
- Consider seasonality - You can't always eat what you want, when you want
- More fruit, veg and pulses grown in the UK, to feed the UK
- Short supply chains
- More seaweed!
- It's complicated. No silver bullets, no single solution. Take the time to think, read, and listen

Any other key takeaways or thoughts?

Have your say on the next phase of the Active Travel Consultation in Monmouthshire.

The aim is to review and finalise a number of active travel routes in and around towns in the county. This is your chance to feed into these plans.

You can find the questionnaires for walking and cycling in each town here...
https://mccactivetravelconsultation.commonplace.is/overview

There is more to active travel than establishing new routes however, as we also need a shift in our behaviour and culture, around the ways we travel and make short journeys.

Here are some interesting examples of initiatives trying to change travel behaviours:

What does the future hold for rural Wales?

Whatever the answer, any future action, strategy, and support offered must be based on a solid evidence base.

We've been working with the Welsh Government at this critical juncture for Wales, as it transitions away from The European Rural Development Programme, funding and framework, towards alternative, post-Brexit arrangements.

We have not only evaluated key services in rural development but also identified gaps in current understanding and research, to help inform future projects and research.

You can read more about these individual projects by following the links to our website below:

We have even more new faces joining us as Graduate Analysts and are delighted to welcome Sophie Wheeler and Jessica Mann to Miller Research.

It's a busy time for us, so both are already in the thick of a number of our ongoing research, evaluation and consultancy projects.

Fortunately, their backgrounds in social research, politics, and working with communities, as well as their desire to get stuck in and make an impact, means they have hit the ground running.

Both have written interesting and thoughtful 'Starting at Miller' blog posts outlining their backgrounds, interests and hopes for work at Miller Research. Follow the links below for a read.

Jessica - https://www.miller-research.co.uk/starting-at-miller-jessica/
Sophie - https://www.miller-research.co.uk/starting-at-miller-sophie/

Navigating life as a graduate can be challenging enough – without the added weight of a global pandemic. I had just embarked on my next chapter when Covid hit, calling everything into question. One thing however, became crystal clear; I needed to find meaningful work.
