Greenitaly 2026 – Day 2 | Seeing Italian expertise first-hand
Day two has taken Jeremy King, Managing Director of Boningale, away from the trade show and into the nurseries of Italy, providing a fantastic opportunity to see first-hand the knowledge, skill and dedication of some of Italy’s leading growers and what they have to offer the UK landscape market.
🌳 First stop – PlantaRegina
Based in Canneto sull’Oglio, in the Province of Mantua, PlantaRegina is a consortium bringing together specialist growers from one of Italy’s important nursery regions.
The visit highlighted the breadth of production across its members nurseries, from impressive specimens to a diverse range of trees and shrubs demonstrating the scale, expertise, and specialist knowledge available within the Italian growing sector.
🌿 Next stop – Vannucci Piante
The journey then continued onto Pistoia, a region widely recognised as one of the major centres of the European nursery industry.
Established in 1938, Vannucci Piante is a family-run nursery with a long history of production at an impressive scale.
Seeing the operation first-hand was hugely valuable, showcasing the breadth of the Italian plant range while also providing plenty of inspiration for how we can continue to enhance the range we offer to our customers.
For Boningale, these visits are about much more than simply looking at plants.
They are about understanding how growers operate, building relationships, exploring future supply opportunities, and identifying plants and specimens that could help our landscaping customers offer something different to their clients within our changing climate.
🌱 And then, to round off the day… Opera!
A chance to experience a little of the local culture, whilst also networking with fellow delegates who have embraced the opportunity to discover what Italian growers have to offer.
Another incredibly valuable day — and plenty of new contacts and opportunities to bring home.
The future of plant supply is about knowledge, relationships, choice and looking beyond what is available today.
