i watched rafa on netflix over the weekend, and didn’t want it to finish.

it doesn’t just highlight what a fantastic talent he was, how hard he worked and how much success he had.

what really stuck with me was what it cost him to achieve what he did.

three other powerful things that stayed with me:

1: he didn’t chase greatness. he just refused to quit. every single time.

2: his body was breaking for years. he kept going anyway. that wasn’t just motivation. that was identity.

3: greatness isn’t glamorous. it’s obsessive, repetitive, and often lonely. he just made peace with that.

if you haven’t watched it yet, i’d highly recommend it, whether you’re a tennis/sports fan or not.
