CSE provide Vacuum Excavation services to an array of customers within the Construction and Utilities industries across the United Kingdom.

“We are finding out that more and more companies throughout the UK are now introducing Vacuum Excavation as common practice for excavating around any live underground asset on their projects. All of our team are very passionate about delivering an extremely

reliable and efficient service to all of our existing and future clients.”

A gas mains strike is one of the biggest risks associated with excavation.

Our team supported gas main works in Chertsey to make way for a new road project with safe and controlled excavation, helping expose and access the existing infrastructure ready for diversion works to continue smoothly.

Choosing vacuum excavation minimises the risk of striking the gas mains exponentially. It allows material to be removed with far greater control compared to mechanical digging, significantly reducing the likelihood of damaging buried assets.

When risk is high and safety is priority – vacuum excavation must be the go-to.

Peekaboo… 👀 Not the average view for the ops today 😅

The team have been busy cleaning gravel out from inside a salt filter tank in Bristol to prevent residue build up and minimise risks from using degraded filtration materials, safely removing material, and helping get the system ready for the next stage of works.

Vacuum excavation isn’t just for digging holes in the ground. It is the optimum choice for removal of unwanted materials where space is confined and difficult to reach.

Got a project coming up that’s hard to reach? Get in touch with our team to find out how choosing vacuum excavation can support.

Trench work underway in Farnborough for the installation of new electric cables from a nearby substation ⚡

Projects like this require a careful and controlled approach, especially when working around existing infrastructure and active work areas.

Our team carried out the trenching safely and efficiently, helping prepare the route for the new cables while keeping disruption on site to a minimum.

Another solid job completed with safety and teamwork leading the way.

Are your site plans 100% accurate… or just ‘accurate enough’?
On a live hospital site, ‘close enough’ isn’t good enough.

In high-risk environments like healthcare facilities, one wrong assumption about what’s below ground can lead to:
• Service strikes
• Project delays
• Safety risks to staff, patients, and the public
• Unexpected costs that spiral fast

Even the most detailed site plans don’t always reflect reality. Legacy drawings, undocumented changes, and congested underground networks mean there’s always an element of uncertainty.

Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) and non-destructive excavation like vacuum excavation take out the guesswork.

By combining accurate utility detection with precision excavation, you can:
✔ Safely expose live services
✔ Reduce risk on site
✔ Keep projects on time and on budget
✔ Make informed decisions with confidence

The outcome? Safer sites. Fewer surprises. Better project control.

As our infrastructure gets more complex, understanding what’s below the surface is essential
If you’re planning works around existing utilities, it’s worth asking:
How confident are you in what’s beneath your site?

What’s really going on behind the scenes of a water mains replacement?

This might look like just a truck, but it plays a critical role in keeping our water flowing safely and reliably.

As ageing water infrastructure is upgraded, technology like this helps ensure essential services are protected while vital improvements are carried out efficiently.

Unlike traditional digging, vacuum excavation uses powerful suction to remove soil without damaging existing pipes, cables, or services. That means:
✅ Reduced risk to buried utilities
✅ Improved safety for crews and the public
✅ Faster, cleaner excavation
✅ Less disruption to surrounding areas

At CSE, it’s not just about replacing pipes. It’s about working smarter, safer, and more sustainably on every project.

Out on site in Wales supporting ongoing issues affecting a row of houses 💧⚡️

Our team were tasked with carefully uncovering two water mains, a main electric line and a sewage pipe, all located within the same area and contributing to repeated problems. Working in a controlled and safe manner, each service was fully exposed to give clear visibility and allow further investigation into the root cause 👷‍♂️🚧

Jobs like this highlight the importance of a careful approach when dealing with multiple live services. By keeping disruption to a minimum and maintaining a clean working area, we’re helping ensure the next stage of works can be carried out efficiently and safely.
