To mark Green Libraries Week, the Speirs Centre will be holding a book sale from today, Wednesday 21st October, until Saturday 24th October.
A wide range of old and ex-stock will be available, made up of many genres and in various conditions (Give what you can payment)
🗓 Upcoming November events at the Library:
🔸 Tuesday 10th November, 2026 – Colson Whitehead (2.00pm – 3.00pm) (Edinburgh International Book Festival screening)
“Colston Whitehead is one of America’s most skilled and essential storytellers.” – Visit the library to watch this energising conversation on why we can’t move forward without looking back. Chaired by Samira Ahmed.
🔸 Friday 13th November, 2026 – Bridge Taster Session (2.00pm – 4.00pm) – Join the Speirs Centre for a taster Bridge session – learn the basics of the game and see how it can offer significant cognitive, social and emotional benefits.
🔸 Monday 16th November, 2026 – Clean Air Talk (Communities against Woodsmoke) (14.00-15.00) – Join for a discussion on environmental and health impacts of air pollution
🔸 Thursday 19th November, 2026 – Colin Maxwell /Maximised Comics (14.00 – 15.00_ - Colin writes / draws comics about historical characters and events such as Robert the Bruce, William Wallace and Mary Queen of Scots. Join to hear about his interesting work and publications
