Following interest from Best Bar None Venues and the public we've decided our next initiative to launch will be "Ask for Angela"

The national scheme offers those feeling threatened or uneasy when on a night out to discreetly be able to ask venue staff for Angela.

Staff will know that the person needs help and will deal with each situation to protect the person asking for Angela.

Watch out for posters in Altrincham venues soon.

Evidence based research shows that Domestic Abuse incidents and crime increases in the summer months. School holidays, sporting events such as the World Cup, an increase in hot weather and alcohol consumption are all contributing factors.

Previous research by Lancaster University shows that Domestic Abuse increased by 27.7% when the England Football team won and 31.5% when they lost (Dr Stuart Kirby – research on World Cup).

This risk is likely to increase with the possibility of good weather, and the timings of some of the matches.
