Having a solid network infrastructure is the backbone to having better control of your home. Then installing ample and correct cabling will allow you to integrate all the technology in your home. By allowing your lighting, security,TV, Music, blinds, heating, garden to talk to each other you now have an intelligent home. With that you can then have one app to easily control and manage all the different aspects of your home, allowing you to create the perfect mood, ambience, comfort and lifestyle that you choose. Pretty cool! We are specilaists in Home Cinema Design and Installation.

You know you want technology in your home. Choosing who to trust with it is the harder part.

Here are some things we suggest to look out for when making that decision:

✨Experience — can they show you homes they’ve completed, not just products they sell?

✨Depth of skills — who’s actually on the team, from design through to installation?

✨Accreditation — are they recognised by bodies like CEDIA, the global association for home technology professionals?

✨Aftercare — what happens after handover, and who picks up the phone when you need them?

Two perspectives from our recent CPD session, and that’s exactly the point of the IZ Educational Series to give clear, practical insight into how integrated systems can enhance a project. With each session designed to give you what you need to brief and specify with confidence.

Thank you to Natalie, By Two Studio and Caroline, Caroline | Willow & White Interiors for their kind words.

Next up: Designing the Home Cinema, our BIID and RIBA accredited CPD session. Link in bio to reserve your place.

When designing a home cinema, one of the key aspects is getting the layout right and understanding the proportions of the room.

Add too much, with oversized seating, too many rows, a screen out of scale with the space, and the room feels heavy and uncomfortable rather than immersive. Add too little, and it feels sparse and underwhelming.

Every room has its own dimensions and sightlines to work with, and the layout has to respond to all of it before anything else is decided.

Once it's right, we can then work on adding the right technology to the space.

Home cinemas and media rooms are one of the fastest-growing spaces we're asked to design, and getting them right takes more than a big screen. Acoustics, architecture, design and technology all have to work as one from day one.

To understand how to implement them into your designs, we are hosting two sessions of the RIBA & BIID accredited CPD, 'Designing Home Cinemas'. The first will take place at our supplier Habitech's showroom, an award-winning venue featuring four dedicated cinema rooms, and the other at our showroom at Sky House Design Centre.

Tue 13 Oct — Habitech Showroom, Basingstoke, 12pm-2pm
Tue 3 Nov — Sky House Design Centre, Amersham, 12pm-2pm

Stay after for lunch and live demos across both cinema spaces.

Making audio more discreet in the home.

It’s a conversation we have often. When it comes to audio, there are a number of ways to approach it, some homeowners want speakers to disappear entirely into the ceiling, others are happy for a grille to stay visible, so long as it complements the interiors.

Paul walks through two approaches: fully flush in-ceiling speakers, and small-aperture options designed to sit quietly within the room.

Either way, the goal stays the same - sound that feels considered.
