Today Greg from came to do the MOT on our air-sprayer as well as checking up on Fred, our 45 year old tractor. The air- sprayer passed with flying colours and Fred is in very good health. He does not need an MOT. Another job done!

We have been busy harvesting in the last month; a big thank you to our wonderful group of pickers. The leaves are now turning yellow and it’s time to remove the clips from the wires and Mark is up a ladder removing the weather station for some maintenance.The h**e plant outside the shed is still in full bloom. A beautiful day in the vineyard.
On a different note we are delighted that we are now on the wine list in Greyhound on the Test.

Busy times in the vineyard - thankfully we have got some help with de-leafing and green harvesting today and Mark is mowing/mulching the leaves in the alleyways with JD. The Pinot Meunier has started Veraison and the Pinot Noir is also showing beginning signs of changing colour.

More great news..our Goodworth Classic 2021 sparkling wine has just been awarded a silver medal in the IEWA (Independent English Wine Award) competition!
“Lovely freshness, with red apples on the nose. Harmonious, with everything in balance. Attractive fruit character and a poised, lingering finish. Very well made.”

Time to remove the crop candles as we sincerely hope the frost season is now over.

We have prepared ourselves in case there will be a frost tonight/tomorrow early morning. The crop candles (bougis) are placed out amongst the vines, the lighting wands are ready, head torches, gloves and we will be on frost watch…

We have finished pruning!
Such a lovely day today so we continued to pick up the old canes we pulled out during pruning. It’s a long job - 2 rows done today and 11 rows to go!

At last a sunny day after several dreary, cold and wet days, so we managed to get out to prune another row - only 6 rows to go now!

A glorious sunny day in the vineyard today. We were pruning and gathering old canes. Luckily we had some assistance from Nick which was very helpful. Hoping for more dry days to continue the pruning - just about half way through!

Pruning has started...4 rows done - only 21 more to go! Mark is pruning and Cecilia is spraying vintec to protect the cuts and then pulling out the discarded canes.
Hopefully the weather will stay dry so we can do some more rows this coming week.
