I nipped up to Lakes today for a boot fitting. I wanted to make sure I was getting it right, as this particular pair will need to handle some heavy-duty hiking! 🥾

Where do I write? ✍️

Well… anywhere I can!

Now that we’re living a different kind of lifestyle, I no longer have my lovely home office. So most of my writing happens on a knackered old sofa, while trying not to get rammed by the puppy’s latest chew toy.

Occasionally (aka almost never), I’ll get out to a coffee shop or somewhere slightly more glamorous. But most days, it’s just me - hoodie on, hair up, enough caffeine to wake the dead - and a tiny little fire in me that tells me to keep going.

Let’s talk romance tropes! 💖

For me, best friends to lovers is always a goodie … and I suppose that ‘should’ be one of my faves, given I married my best friend (eventually). Some might even say we’re grumpy/sunshine! 🤣

But I’m also a huge fan of forced proximity, second chance romance, and that oh-so-delicious slow burn! 🔥

I fell head over heels in love with the Greek island of Kefalonia during our family holiday in August 2022. 🇬🇷

So much so that within days of getting home, I just knew it was going to be the setting for my first novel... and I began to scribble.

By October, I was back there for a solo research trip (first time I’d ever been abroad on my own!), and even more ideas and settings began to fall into place.

If you’re partial to a bit of sun, sea and souvlaki, I really hope that one day my novel ends up in your beach bag! ☀️ 🏖️

So, why do I write romantic fiction? 💓

The short answer… because there’s nothing more important in this world than love, right?

The long answer… because at the ripe old age of 44, I’ve lived a hell of a lot of love stories. Or at least… what I ‘thought’ were love stories.

I’ve chased ‘the one’.
I’ve been very wrong about who ‘the one’ was (on an embarrassing number of occasions).
I’ve seen relationships go right, go wrong… and go spectacularly t**s up.

But despite all of that, I’m still a sucker for a good old love story. I’m talking Shane & Angel, Pacey & Joey, Brenda & Dylan, Bridget Jones & Mark Darcy– insert your fave 90s/00s will-they-won’t-they couple here!

The novels I write will never be all hearts and flowers.
But they will be real and relatable… everyday people with everyday issues.

Messy humans. Complicated emotions. And always a happy ending. 😘
