Facebook Ads Text Rules

A couple of weeks ago, Facebook removed the 20% text rule for Facebook Ads.

This will be welcome news for advertisers who have previously had ads rejected for having too much text on their images.

I was 'cold pitched' this morning by a web designer, by email.

Apparently the website he was emailing me about:

- wasn't responsive (yes it is)
- was outdated (no it's not)
- hard to read on larger screens (it looks just fine)

So me being me, I popped over to check out his site.

As I scrolled down his homepage, there were so many animated sections coming in from different directions it left me feeling dizzy - that was enough for me to click away & chuckle!

If you receive an email like this, please know, there will have been no research at all - your email address will have been scraped & merged into a blanket email campaign.

Simply delete & move on!

Wordpress .com vs Wordpress .org - which one?

So many people get confused by this & understandably so.

👉 Wordpress. com is an all in one solution which has free & paid plans. With the free plan you don't even need to buy a domain name.

It's essentially similar to other site builders like Squarespace, WIX, Weebly etc.

For business, ultimately it can become costly & restrictive as your requirements grow.

For simple hobby websites / blogs, it can be a good starting solution.

❤ Wordpress .org is opensource Wordpress software that you install onto your own domain and hosting.

THIS is the better route for a business website.

1) Buy a domain

2) Buy a hosting solution through a SEPARATE provider (then link together). Yes a lot of hosting companies will offer you free domain registration for the 1st year, but tying the 2 together this way makes it harder to move host if you are not happy in the future.

I have built websites for years, AVOID hosting with Ionos, GoDaddy, Hostgator (or any EIG owned hosting business).

I recommend Siteground to my customers (link in comments). You will get email & an SSL certificate included.

3) Once your hosting is set up, install Wordpress software (usually 1 click) & a free / paid theme depending on what you want your website to be able to do.

Will the SEO service you're paying for actually helping your business get more traffic?

Yesterday I read a post where an SEO Agency was celebrating getting their client on to page 1 of google.

Sounds great right?
Not necessarily...

You see I come across this all the time:
✔ Business hires SEO agency
✔ SEO agency asks business what keywords / search terms they would like to be found for
😡 SEO agency starts working to rank them for these chosen keywords.

Here's the problem. The keywords the business chose may not have not been validated. Do people actually search for these keywords? Yesterday was not unusual, the answer was NO.

So ultimately, the SEO agency says 'hey look at me, how good am I, your business is on Page 1 of google'

The Business initally says: 'Ooo great' and is full of excitement.

But a while later says 'I don't understand, why am I not seeing an increase in traffic now I am on page 1 of google?

Now I am not saying they won't get any extra visits, as keyword research trends only start to show when there are at least 10 regular searches for a term a month - so there may be the odd one here & there. But that's hardly enough is it?

Also, their meta titles & descriptions could be lacking (although, again this is something the SEO Agency should have addressed)

If you are going to get someone to help you with your SEO, make sure they start by VALIDATING your keywords.
