WELCOME TO ANGUS BUSINESS HUB 2.0! 😊

We hope that you had a good day and if not, hopefully seeing our silly faces (well, mine and Derek's...Natalie looks fabulous as always) brings you a little smile.

The last week has been pretty amazing.

Thanks to all of you, we've grown from around 800 members to almost 1,300 — and we're still growing! If you've joined recently, welcome! 👋

But for us, the numbers aren't really the point. We're trying to build a genuinely useful business community for Angus.

A place where you can get to know the people behind local businesses.

A place where you can ask for help, find opportunities, make connections, promote what you're doing and hopefully feel that there are people in your corner.

So what's happening next?

We've got a lot planned, but here's what we're working on right now:

1️⃣ We're pressing pause on Biz & Blether

We're suspending production of our quarterly magazine so we can put our time and resources into some of the other projects we're working on. It may return in the future, but in a different form!

2️⃣ A new way to promote your business & make connections

We're currently have a temporary freeze on promotional posts while we build a new system for the group.

The aim is simple:

Make it easy for you to introduce yourself, promote your business, ask for help, find people, share opportunities and make useful connections (without the group turning into a wall of adverts!).

We'll be launching the new system later this week.

3️⃣ Teen Enterprise starts this week 🚀

We've got some big plans for helping young people develop business skills, confidence and experience by taking on real-world challenges.

We're starting with a small pilot involving five brilliant teenagers.

They're going to design, build and launch their own podcast studio, from sourcing materials and managing a budget right through to marketing it and finding their first customer.

And that's just the beginning.

4️⃣ Our own marketing team

We've also put together a team of ABH volunteers with marketing skills.

Next week they'll be taking on their first community project.

The long-term idea is to develop the team to the point where we can potentially offer affordable marketing services to Angus businesses with a very "outside-the-box" approach!

We'll show you exactly what they're doing along the way.

5️⃣ Come and meet us! ☕🥐

Our next networking event is 10 a.m-12 p.m. on 26 October at our base in 8 Grant Road - Arbroath.

Nothing too formal.

Coffee, pastries, conversations and a chance to actually meet some of the people behind the names you see in this group.

We'll also tell you more about what we're building and, most importantly, get your input.

Because ABH isn't just something we're building for businesses in Angus.

It's something we're building with you.

So if you've got ideas, suggestions, crazy ideas or something you think ABH should be doing...

Tell us.

We're listening.

There's a lot we can accomplish together.

What a day for Angus Business Hub!

We’re incredibly proud to have been named a finalist and Highly Commended in the Impact Business category at today’s DACC Chamber Awards. 💙

A huge thank you to our team. As a volunteer-run social enterprise, everything we do relies on people giving their time, ideas and energy to help build something meaningful for the Angus business community. This recognition simply wouldn’t have happened without them.

Congratulations to NHS Tayside Charitable Foundation, the very deserving winners of the category. The work they do to improve health and wellbeing for people and communities across Tayside makes a real difference, and we’re proud to have been recognised alongside them, and the other fantastic organisations nominated today.

And finally, thank you to our community. Every event you attend, connection you make, idea you share and bit of support you give helps shape Angus Business Hub.

👋 Hello, we’re Angus Business Hub.

But the important bit is that the “we” includes you.

Angus Business Hub is a volunteer-run social enterprise, built by the local business community, for the local business community. And every new person who walks through the door, comes along to an event or gets involved helps shape what it becomes.

You’ll find us:

☕ Bringing people together at relaxed networking events

💡 Running practical workshops where local knowledge gets shared

📰 Publishing Biz&Blether, our quarterly magazine celebrating the people, businesses and stories of Angus

💻 Providing a welcoming co-working space in Arbroath, with a place to work, connect and be part of the community

But really, Angus Business Hub is about the people behind all of that.

The freelancers. The start-ups. The established businesses. The side-hustlers. The makers. The people with an idea scribbled in a notebook and the people who’ve been doing this for decades.

We’re a social enterprise, which means what we build goes back into supporting the Angus business community. We’re volunteer-run, because the people giving their time believe there’s value in having a strong, connected local community.

More than a business network. A community built by its people - and shaped by everyone who joins it.

📣 MONTROSE BUSINESSES – YOUR VOICE MATTERS

There’s a major opportunity ahead for Montrose - and we want local businesses at the heart of it.

Join us for the first ProMo Business Network Meeting:

ProMo, working alongside various partners, is currently pursuing potentially several million pounds of investment into Montrose.

Our ambition is to unlock major regeneration of the town centre and its buildings – supporting essential repairs and improvements, bringing empty properties back into use, creating new opportunities for businesses and residents and helping make Montrose a busier, more vibrant and sustainable town.

But investment isn’t just about buildings. Funders need to see a town working together. They need to know that investment is supported by, and responds to, the businesses and people who are already here.
