Once a month I travel to Kildare to attend an upskilling course.

It's very important to me that I continue to learn and develop my skills as a farrier so that I can give all my customers the best service possible.

Don't get me wrong the ribbons are great!

But without a doubt the best part of going to competitions is meeting up with like minded people.

The amount we all learn from these competitions benefits our customers horses no end.

A successful weekend in Tipperary! 🤠

Managed to brave the heat and come away with a win in the open shoemaking, a second place in the open shoeing and the best specimen shoe on the day.

Most importantly I learned a lot watching other fantastic farriers work.

On my way to Reamonn O Connors farrier competition in Tipperary to try defend my win at last years competition.

Will the trophy be staying north or heading south? 🤠😂

Farrier population in NI is due to rapidly decrease in the next 10 years 📉

Unfortunately due to constant price hikes in materials and fuel, every day inflation and getting given out to by my accountant who says my margins are terrible 🙈 we are having a price increase.

As stated in previous posts regarding prices I hope everyone understands this is something no small business ever wants to do but unfortunately has to be done.

Just wanted to take a minute to celebrate this man!

After 4 1/4 years of hard work and pure dedication Josh Kelly is now a fully Qualified farrier.

Nobody can understand the dedication and work ethic he has shown! In all the years he has worked with me he has not once been late, not one sick day, never moaned about the long days and has been by my side every single day!

Always keen to learn and has pushed himself more than any apprentice I have ever met.

It has been an absolute privilege to teach a person who wants to be taught.

He has kept the cogs turning in recent months when times have been tough and I couldn't be prouder to have been part of his journey and to be able to call him my friend.

We hosted our first clinic day from Banbridge yesterday afternoon.

It was a huge success, 7 horses assessed and shod.

Some required foot balance x-rays kindly carried out by Sean at Rooney Equine

I really love being able to make a difference to these horses and help them to become more comfortable in their feet.
