"Forged Flight"

My latest sculpture of this pheasant mid flight is now finished after hours of blood sweat and tears and ready to be sold

This is a completely unique sculpture and is 1 of 1, never to be recreated by myself.

Forged Flight is made from 75 steel horse shoes and two farrier rasps, each shoe was heated to 1100°C, forged straight, cut in half, quenched and welded in place using over 100 welding rods in total.

Left with a natural finish, given time it will create it's own rustic patina similar to the natural brown and fiery copper red of a wild pheasant.

It can be displayed inside as a statement piece or as an outside sculpture.

This piece measures:
133 cm wingspan
90 cm beak to tail
27cm tall

22kg weight

Collection county Armagh, north of Ireland or Postage can be arranged via pallet delivery at buyers cost after sale is complete.

Please note that this is not a cheap, disposable piece, it represents days and days of hard work and creativity and is a completely unique piece of art that will last for multiple Lifetimes.

Forged Flight will not disappoint as pictures really don't do it justice. Much more impressive in real life.

Please get in touch for more details.

A work in progress...

This is a horse we have been shoeing over the past 6 months.. unfortunately when he arrived from the UK his feet were in very poor condition, with low heels and broken back hoof pastern axis.

Initially we tried a graduated frog support pad but unfortunately he really didn't take to them, after trial and error with reducing the amount of frog support ect we had to go back to the drawing board as he was incredibly uncomfortable.

Finally we are making some progress and have been having success with a graduated bar shoe with recessed bar and rolled toe.

It's very important to remember that we don't always get things right first thing, and that by persistence and adapting things will come right in the end.

All go here at Kevin Quigg Farriery last weekend..

We had all the lads from CAFRE college for a practice day and some mentoring in preparation for their diploma exam next week.

These men have worked hard for over 4 years to get to this point.

Good luck to everyone including the one and only Josh Kelly next week!

I was honoured to be asked along to assist Jonathan Nunn FWCF at the recent Irish Equine Veterinary Accosiation event.

A brilliant hands-on learning day with fellow farriers.

Bringing vets and farriers together like this strengthens communication, improves decision-making, and ultimately leads to better outcomes for the horse.

The teamwork and discussion between farriers and vets was fantastic to see.

Thanks again to Sean @ Rooney Equine for helping put this day together
