⛽ THE RISING COST OF FUEL – IT AFFECTS US ALL
Fuel prices are something we’re all noticing — whether you’re filling up the family car, running a van, operating machinery, or keeping a fleet of HGVs on the road.
For businesses like ours, diesel is one of our biggest day-to-day operating costs. Every Grab Lorry, Tipper, Road Sweeper and transport vehicle needs fuel to get the job done.
We genuinely don’t want to pass additional costs on to our customers, and we work hard to keep our prices competitive. But the reality is that rising fuel costs don’t just affect transport companies — they work their way through the whole economy.
🚛 Materials cost more to transport.
🏗️ Plant and machinery cost more to operate.
🏪 Deliveries become more expensive.
🏠 Businesses face higher operating costs.
👨👩👧👦 And ultimately, households feel the effect too.
What can sometimes be forgotten is that a substantial part of the price paid at the pump is taxation, through fuel duty and VAT.
When diesel prices increase, the impact goes far beyond the filling station. Almost everything we buy has been transported at some point, often several times before it reaches the end customer.
We’ll continue doing everything we can at MSD Commercial Ltd to operate efficiently, maximise our loads, reduce unnecessary journeys and keep our costs as competitive as possible.
We’d much rather find ways of working smarter than simply passing every increase straight on to our customers.
