The upcoming unfair dismissal changes don’t just impact 2027... they affect both your new starters and your existing team.

From 1 July, new hires will fall into scope sooner than you think.

And current employees won’t have the same qualifying period you’re used to.

The qualifying period for unfair dismissal will be six months from 1st January 2027.

That means anyone you hire from 1st July this year will be fully protected.

And it’s not just new hires... employees already in your business will also see their qualifying period reduced.
