Hi all, I'm fundraising for Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex once again. Possibly my craziest idea yet but will be doing a skydive from 10,000ft (eek!) in June. My hope is to raise as much money for them as possible as they are currently trying to raise £1m to purchase one of their aircraft from the leasing company. Please dig deep if you are able. Morning team,

Quite some time since our last post but this ones important.

Thanks for all your support over the schemes lifetime. Whilst we remain closed, the final figures are in. Over £96,642 raised for Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex and 95.4 tonnes diverted from landfill and incineration. This is amazing!

Now the ask; Our friends at the charity have been offered the chance to purchase one of the helicopters from their aviation partner, these opportunities rarely come around. They need to raise £1million in the next month to be able to sign on the dotted line. In short, purchasing will save them money with on-costs and allow them to fly for longer.

Any amount you can give will help them reach this target, if you are able to donate £100 or more then you can have your name or short message embossed onto the aircraft, as a lasting momento.

I've donated £100 and the following message will go onto the aircraft.

The numbers are in!

Over the last 6 months, upto the end of March we've raised a staggering £17,187.85 for Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex

This means to date with your support we've raised £88,286.97

In addition, our friends and fellow recyclers Recycling in Lancing have very kindly donated AAKSS £500 on top of our efforts. We are really touched by this and know the charity will be too.

The total would cover the fuelling costs for more than 735 flights, or 'missions' as they are known. Getting the best trauma doctors and critical care paramedics, kit, drugs and their skills & procedures to the patient in their time of need.

Wow wow wow!!

So now all of our boxes have been packed and sent, we've sat down and updated our spreadsheet from across the region for what's gone this past week. This is too good not to share!

In addition to the 330kg from Ashford we also sent 220kg from Crayford, 115kg from Croydon, 40kg from Hastings, 80kg from Shepherdswell, 20kg from Tatsfield, 27kg from Worcester Park and 49kg from South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust coordinated by the wonderful Amanda at EOC.

This totals a combined weight of 881kg, in turn earning Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex £881. This more than covers the fuel bill for 7 flights, well over a days worth of coverage.

881kg is around the weight of an adult giraffe 🦒

Our final load of your boxed packets have left Ashford destined for TerraCycle UK

55 boxes, 330.35kg total weight, earning Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex £330. Virtually the fuel bill for 3 live saving flights.

Thanks so much for your support over the years, it might not seem like a lot dropping off a small 'brick' of packets but collectively you've achieved great things for this amazing charity and our environment.

Remember, our final two drop off points that were open slightly later than the rest (that shut on 15th) are Ashford and Crayford. They are only open until midday today, Saturday 23rd April.

Meet 8 year old Jasmine from Ramsgate.

She found out about the scheme and wanted as many friends, family and neighbours involved so made leaflets asking for people to sort and save their packets for her. She even provided paper bags for people to place their packets in, for an easy collection.

Jasmine collected weekly from others for the last 3 months, but has been collecting from immediate family for over 6 months.

She finally reached her goal of 3kg saved from landfill with last collection being 14th April.

She also used this to gain her charities badge and speak out badges from Brownies.

Jasmine has also met her local MP and told him all about the scheme and the wider work of the air ambulance.

Well done Jasmine, we know your family are very proud of you (they messaged to tell us!). We are very proud of you too and sincerely appreciate all your efforts!

Meet 9 year old Jaidyn.

This little legend found out from his school that he could save crisp packets to raise money for Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex He decided that this would be a good way for him to help others and the environment. Even though he has never needed an air ambulance he remembers his trip in an ambulance after fracturing his skull, and how kind they were to him. He made it his mission to get as many packets as possible. He spoke to family members about it and asked them to save crisp packets aswell. He managed to collect just under 300 packets in total. Since finding out that the crisp packet scheme is closing he is thinking about other ways to raise money for the charity.

Jaidyn, you are an absolute legend and we are so grateful of your support. Well done, you and your family should be very proud of you. We are. 💚
