☀️ Is 2026 the best time to go solar since the FIT tariff days?

Back when the Feed-in Tariff (FIT) launched, it drove a huge wave of solar installations across the UK. Today, the opportunity looks just as strong, but for different reasons.

📉 Solar panel prices have fallen by around 73% over the last decade.
📊 Installation costs fell again in 2024/25:
• Small systems (0–4 kW) down 19%
• Medium systems (4–10 kW) down 21%

⚡ Electricity prices remain historically high, exacerabted by current global events. Generating your own power means greater protection from rising energy costs.

💷 There are also strong incentives in place:
• 0% VAT on domestic solar installations
• Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) lets you sell excess energy back to the grid
• Battery storage allows you to use your solar power in the evenings
• Most systems now pay for themselves in around 5–10 years

📅 And timing matters.
With it currently being March, installing now means your energy system can be up and running just in time for the peak summer generation months, when solar production is at its highest.
