Post 2 of 27 - Friday Five
Another five moments from my Best of 2025 collection.
Weddings move quickly and most of the moments that make me smile last about two seconds.
After over a decade of shooting weddings I've got pretty good at knowing when to hit the shutter though..

So hear me out.... Every year I put together an end of year post, my favourite moments from the weddings I’ve been lucky...

So hear me out.... Every year I put together an end of year post, my favourite moments from the weddings I’ve been lucky enough to be part of.
I love doing it. It’s a chance to slow down and look back through everything I captured over the year.

The problem is that once it’s posted, it tends to get lost in the feed as everything moves so quickly… And I don’t share it nearly as much as I should.
So with that in mind, I give you...

1 of 27 - Friday Five (we have 135 photos to get through folks)

Every Friday I’ll be sharing five photos from my Best of 2025 collection.
They’re in no particular order, the only thing they have in common is that they’re some of my favourite moments from last year.

The tears, the laughter, the slightly questionable dancefloor moves and the mothers multi tasking by drinking wine whilst feeding yoghurt to their children… it’s all in there.

Jenny & Angus flew all the way from Canada to get married at and they absolutely did not hold back.
Celebrant led vows under a stretch tent in the walled garden, sax welcoming everyone into the barn, firepit cocktails at sunset… And then one of the wildest dance floors I’ve photographed in a long time.
There were lifts.
Proper lifts.
More than once.

And just when it felt like it had peaked, everyone disappeared into the cellar bar and DJ Sexy Toast took over.
What. A. Night.

Huge team effort from an awesome group of suppliers šŸ‘‡

If you're planning a wedding at Sparkford Hall and want it captured honestly - the chaos, the calm, the dance floor lifts - you know where I am.

A lot of couples tell me the same thing:
ā€œWe’re awkward in photos.ā€
You’re not awkward.
You just don’t want to pose for 40 minutes.
I get it, you would rather be drinking espresso martinis with your mates..

I'm not sure how I feel about all this Valentines day business... I mean, its great to show your love and although you could argue that its nice to do that every day, its also quite nice to have a day just about that... I'm just not sure that I can get onboard with the commercial aspect and the pressures that go with it (roses at 3x the usual price anyone)....

Anyway, here's a photo of K & R walking out to sing Under Pressure with their best mates, who also happen to be a banging Queen tribute band..

However, with all that said, congratulations if you got engaged today. Now head to my contact page and see if I'm free to shoot your wedding..

I love a winter wedding, the light just hits different.. And when Miche & Max asked if we could get their cat involved with the photos, I said yes, of course.. Who wouldn't?

Kathrine & George turned their London wedding into a full-on adventure.

Prep in Southwark, ceremony by the Thames, a boat packed with champagne and questionable dance moves, then straight into a colourful, DIY-fuelled party by the river at the awesome Greenwich Yacht Club. Eventhe cake was a tower of pastel de nata. Elite behaviour.

If you’re planning a wedding that feels more like a celebration and less like a photoshoot - I’m in.

Turns out I’ve been listed in the Top 50 worldwide by the Wedding Photojournalist Association and 8th in the UK, 1 in Devon honestly means a lot, especially when you look at the other awesomely talented folks on the list..

I started shooting weddings because I loved real moments, the messy ones, the loud ones, the slightly unhinged dancefloor ones. And what I love about the WPJA awards is the fact that everything has to be from recent weddings, so everything is from the last year and bang up to date.
No raiding the archives for the best photos..
Thank you to every couple who’s trusted me to tell their story without turning it into a photoshoot.

If you want honest, documentary, blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moments , I’m in..

Hi, I’m Johnny šŸ‘‹This is the little corner of Instagram where I tell you a bit about me… and true to photographer form, I’ll do that with the help of a
few photos.

Although I find myself all over the UK and Europe photographing weddings, I live not far from the sea on the Devon/Dorset border with my incredible wife, our three children, and our slightly unhinged Vizsla, Ginny.

I’ve been photographing weddings since 2012 and have shot well over 400 in that time. When I’m not wielding a camera, you’ll usually find me listening to music (I spent many years DJing, including stints as far away as Australia, and music is a big thing in our house), walking the hound on the beach, or out with the fire station crew.

You should probably also know that I really like cake but hate parsnips.

So… onto the photos šŸ“ø

1ļøāƒ£ That’s me, trying to look edgy in front of the camera. Not sure I pull it off, but I kind of like it anyway.
2ļøāƒ£ My awesome family. We take a proper photo every year – these two were taken in the same spot in Paris, ten years apart. The clichĆ© is true… it’s wild how fast they grow up.
3ļøāƒ£ I’m also an on-call firefighter. So when I’m not shooting weddings, I’m part of the local crew looking after our community. Not going to lie – it’s pretty cool.
4ļøāƒ£ A few shots of me at work, including the time a groomsman at Erica & Dave’s wedding made me do a shot of JƤgermeister. Occupational hazard.
5ļøāƒ£ Me holding a flower in a mug… and pointing at Olympic legend Chris Akabusi. Because why not. (Thanks the mug photo and for the CA one)
6ļøāƒ£ I actually spend most of my time with a smile on my face, a bit like this.
