West Africa Logistics | Q2 2026 Update

West Africa remains one of the most important logistics corridors to watch in 2026, but the key story in Q2 is not just growth. It is capacity pressure, route complexity, and rising cost exposure.

IMARC Group estimates the West Africa logistics market will reach £56 billion by 2034, while Mordor Intelligence projects the freight and logistics market at £21 billion in 2025, growing at a 6.15% CAGR. Demand is rising, but so are the operational demands on ports, warehousing, and inland supply chains.

The latest market signals point to a clear shift: businesses can no longer rely on volume growth alone. Container dwell times remain high, congestion continues to affect key gateways, and visibility across the supply chain is becoming a competitive advantage rather than a nice-to-have.

What this means for UK businesses:

· West Africa is still a growth market, but ex*****on now matters more than
ambition.
· Capacity is tighter, so booking early and planning proactively is critical.
· Delays, demurrage, and documentation issues can quickly erode margin.

Last week, our Commercial Manager, Dickson and Commercial Specialist, Creasey represented FAL at the United Ocean Lines Global Annual Meeting in Porto, Portugal.

Centered on the theme “Come Together,” the event’s true value lay not just in the scheduled sessions, but in the meaningful discussions that happened in between. Conversations about where trade lanes are heading, where the pressure points are building, and which partnerships are worth investing in for the long term.

Andrew and Luke returned with stronger relationships across the UOL network, a sharper understanding of how key corridors are developing, and a number of promising conversations that are already feeding into how we plan and deliver for our clients on routes to West Africa, the Middle East and the USA.

Events like this matter because logistics is, at its core, a relationship business. The strength of your network determines how well you can respond when the market shifts or when a client needs you to go further than usual.
