Our extensive range offers a vast selection of colours, textures and design ideas to any hard landscaping project. With over 150 years experience in the decorative aggregate sector, Long Rake Spar has gained national status as the original manufacturer of Derbyshire Spar. Our products are sourced from both our own quarries, and other quarries throughout the British Isles, Europe and Far East. This broad supply chain enables Long Rake to be at the forefront of new product development, and allows us to offer extremely competitive prices for the supply of established materials. Our range of products encompasses all coloured slates, rockery stones, pebbles, cobbles and a wide selection of decorative chippings and gravel. We also produce a range of dried aggregate granules, in various colours, for incorporating into resin bonded surfacing applications. Our Goldpath self-binding gravel has proved particularly successful in providing a low maintenance, durable, quick solution for the regeneration of footpaths. Long Rake Spar recognises that the requirements of its customers are paramount. To this end we ensure: Supply of the highest quality products, efficient friendly service, full technical support, competitive pricing, on time deliveries, alongside continual new product development. Our environmental policy dictates that we only supply ethically sourced materials from sustainable deposits, being operated within current legislative and ecological parameters. We also undertake to source recycled products or industrial bi-products for relevant applications wherever possible.

🏆 Congratulations to Andy Maxwell🏆

We’re delighted to announce that one of our Area Sales Managers, Andy Maxwell, has been shortlisted for Supplier Account Manager of the Year at the 25th annual Builders' Merchants News Awards!

Over the past 12 months, Andy has driven 40,000+ miles, spent 68+ nights away from home and covered an incredible 68,800+ square miles across Scotland, Northern Ireland, Ireland, Cumbria, North East England and the Isle of Man.
Most importantly, Andy has gone the extra mile for his merchant customers.

Andy is focused on delivering real results. These last 12 months have seen him achieve year-on-year turnover growth, secure new accounts and continue to grow our existing customers. He has also personally built over 60 sample stands to support customers on the ground.

But it’s not just the numbers that make Andy stand out.

His straightforward approach, from understanding each customer’s business, responding quickly, keeping every promise and seeing every opportunity or problem through to the end, has nurtured relationships and sustained growth across an exceptionally demanding territory.

🏆 We’ve been nominated for Supplier of the Year 🏆

We’re incredibly proud to announce that Long Rake Spar has been shortlisted for Supplier of the Year at the 25th annual Builders' Merchants News Awards! 🎉

Over the past year, we’ve continued to invest in the things that matter most to our merchant customers: Supply resilience, digital transformation, strategic marketing and strong relationships.

All with one goal: helping builders’ merchants grow their decorative aggregate sales.

Our nationwide scale provides the foundations:
✅ 125,000 tonnes of stockholding
✅ Up to 900,000 tonnes of annual production capacity
✅ 17 robotic packing lines
✅ £8 million of inventory investment.

But being a Supplier of the Year finalist is about more than product availability.

Over the past year, we’ve:
🔹 Installed 139 new aggregate display stands
🔹 Supplied 5,560kg of samples
🔹 Launched a bold new brand identity across packaging, bulk bags, literature and POS
🔹 Delivered year-on-year decorative aggregate sales increases for multiple merchants
🔹 Launched our new website and dedicated Trade Hub
