A NEW playground has been opened in a Dublin community just in time for summer.
With the good weather setting in and school holidays in full swing, many kids will be heading outdoors to enjoy the sun.🌞
Fingal County Council has now opened the new playground at Laurel Lodge Green, in a boost to the Castleknock community.
The playground, which was constructed at a cost of €346,000, is set to provide a much-anticipated recreational facility for the area.
It was developed in line with Space for Play - A Play Policy for Fingal, in response to community demand for a safe and engaging play space for children.
It is designed for kids up to 12 years of age, and located beside the mature trees at the centre of Laurel Lodge Green.
These blend seamlessly with the surroundings, enhancing the green space while preserving its natural character.
According to the Instagram page , the site has a number of accessible play areas.
The page wrote: "It has wheelchair accessible play spaces, sensory play panels, climbing areas, a sand pit area and basket swing!"
Alongside this, there are complementary amenities such as a drinking water fountain, bicycle parking and seating areas.
Welcoming the opening of the playground, Acting Mayor ClIr Ted Leddy said: "I'm delighted to see this fantastic new playground delivered for the residents of Laurel Lodge.
"It represents a great result for the local community, providing a safe and welcoming space where children can play, families can come together, and people of all ages can enjoy the outdoors.
"It's a valuable investment that will benefit the area for many years to come."
The new site is expected to become a popular area for the Laurel Lodge community, offering a vibrant space promoting outdoor activity, social connection, and wellbeing.
Chief Executive of Fingal County Council, AnnMarie Farrelly, added: "This project demonstrates our continued commitment to investing in high-quality public spaces that support healthy, active and connected communities.
